How long do you normally take your showers? I believe it is not any longer than 2 hours, right?

Well, if you can stay under the water for over 101 hours (that’s more than 4 days - mind you), then you might have a good chance to go into the Guinness Book of Records and at the same time win some good money!

Last week, ten Germans were attempting to shower for 101 hours in the hope of breaking the 100 hour record set by a group of Berliners in 2000.

The two women and eight men aged between 18 and 22 from Hoevelhof in western Germany began their attempt on Wednesday (31 August 2005, Malaysia National Day). Each participant was allowed a 10 minute break every hour for food, drink and toilet trips and to rub in more cream to protect their skin from the water.

A doctor was also on hand to make sure the lack of sleep does not affect their health.

On Saturday, three dropped out. Finally, a 17-year-old boy who managed to stay under the shower for the longest won £1,360.
