The annual most exciting and eye-catching event is here again. We get to watch and enjoy 20 beautiful young beauty contestants parading in different costumes, namely in the categories of swimsuit, as well as elegant and casual wear, to showcase their graceful carriages.
When I saw the contestants’s profile beautiful faces in my Astroguide, I can’t wait but to scan through them one by one to see who is the prettiest and has the highest potential of being crowned 
Of course I am not one of the judges, I can only wish my girl win it.
Anyway, when I checked their profile on Astro’s website at this page on Astro, I find their faces and even their height and weight details are different from what are listed in the Astroguide. Why there are so much difference lar? 
Anyway, by merely looking through the semi-finalists on the Astro page, I zoomed in to Miss Lim Yen Keun, Yen (Yen is from the Astroguide), who is “code-named” number 6. Don’t you agree her smile is so sweet? Hehe…

Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2005 is an annual beauty pageant organized by Astro Wah Lai Toi (Channel 30 on Malaysia paid satellite TV). This marks the 8th year that Astro Wah Lai Toi is organizing this prestigious pageant which remains one of the most watched and glamorous beauty pageants in Malaysia.
Astro will telecast LIVE on Wah Lai Toi on September 10 2005, Saturday at 8:00pm. Don’t miss the beauties!

I wouldn’t say it is a money game. But I do agree with you that many of the contestants should not even participate - just look at beauty pageants in other countries such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. The standards are so much different.
I can’t remember what were the questions asked. But I remembered one finalist even asked the hosts to repeat, or rather to explain the question on the latest news in the past 6 months. What a joke.
I agree. Few of them are not deserve to be in the miss astro. Some look very old. Like the contestant number 2. It real unbelievable she will be in the final. She cant answer the question properly and walk properly in the stage but yet she is still in the final. Yucks.. I think i will not watch this coming miss astro. Lousy..

I was kinda confused at first to what is Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant all about. What do you guys think? I dont think we will ever know.
But one thing for sure, Astro has a reputation to keep. Do you think they will be that stupid to choose money or politic rather than to capture higher viewer coverage?
Rather than being judgemental to what we think the pageant is all about based on our own criteria, maybe is wise for us to ask Astro what are the break-down of the assessments and criteria is i.e. what are they judging on?
Can someone from the Astro pageant furnish us with this?
from my point of view,beauty pageant is not only judged by the outer beauty.it must include the innner beauty and the way they carry themselve.if someone is brave enough to take the first step to participate,she is already a winner.before critic others or pointing finger to others,why not just ask ourselve “do we have the right to say it?”imagine you are the one who standing on the stage,will you panic?

or maybe if u can tell us how u see in our winner of Miss M’sia this year? Is she pretty when she was in norm appearance? Like what Jacky said, lightings, make-up and dress-up from our local designer (cant say is the best yet) plays a big role too!! maybe v have less knowledge on how the judges select the winner, or maybe our expectation is too high comparing with wat HK did for their annual pageant contest. i admit that v (m’sian), arent up to that standard yet, but v shud b proud to hav a chance to follow their footsteps. I have read all the comments and i think each comment has its point. Lets us all be fair to all the contestants and give the Malaysian beauties some support. The Malaysian beauties standard can compare with Hong Kong or Taiwan or any other countries. No 1, 2 ,6 and all the other contestants are all very pretty and lets give the judges to decide freely.
I would like to wish all the contestants “good luck” and supports as we are watching too from Hong Kong.

YAya!! i agree with you guys.. most of the contestants are not really beautiful! even the Astro Chinese International Pageant are not that pretty! She also not that clever as i thought the competition should be who are beautiful and clever enough! Dissapointed! Accept for the Miss Astro 2003. Although she is not really damn pretty, but, she is a lawyer!
my frend had meet with all the contestants of dis events b4.he said all of them are really looks bad!!! da gals always fight 2 each other n looks very friendly on the facets, its true!!! bad-hearted gals!!!

Just checked the update website of Miss Astro 2005.Amazing!Do u guyz notice that contestant num1(cherly chung) looks like sun yan zi? Personally, i like contestant num 8(Miss Lim yen),9(Yvnone),10(faye),11(Anakbela). They are look so sweet and nice but wait a min, just notice one thing from contestant 12,Miss Vivian. Is she still doing her A-level what is her job title? as i notice she is quite old leh. Her eyes like a sleeping eyes. Like cant open big enough. i think she looks very old that can compete with contestant num 2,4,7. Alexis,ehmm… She really needs alot of improvement to her look and hair.
Most probably this year, astro judges will choose the winner that is out of what we expect again.
So, who do u think will be the winner of Miss astro 2005? (Maybe should choose someone that we think she will not win!!)

hey,bosco, i think u must b the bf of 1 of the contestant,hahaha!!! im a guy, how 2 participate in dis competition?hahaha…actually my frend is really da bf of 1 of da contestant.he meet wid da other contestants b4, n he said they’re really look so bad(include his gf), dis is da truth, pls accept it. mayb ur taste is little bit different lah, i’ll nt blame u.Bt 1 thing 4 sure is, she(da contestant) know da top mgnt in Astro personally,dis make us suspicious… little bosco,dun b so childish already…
I know Tiffany personally…and well…I think she’s gone into make up, modelling and stuff…not sure if I’m sensitive or has she gone proud. About the other contestants, there’re a few good lookings ones I think. And true, I agree that there should be certain requirements to join this contest! Height, witts, personality and most of all….must look presentable la at least…I’m a bit disappointed with the contestants la…out of the 12, I think only 2 or 3 of them looks presentable to me…Maybe my definition of presentable or pretty is different from others but that’s just my personal opinion, so no offence to anyone ok? Sorry if I did offend anyone though…By the way is anyone going to watch the finals on the 28th?? just curious…
Well, i personally think that the girls this year is not really well-educated, low educational background. I think i impressed the most is their really good in the q and a session. I know that many of you there felt unhappy thaqt some of ur favourites are not the top three. I think the judges make a superb chice for this year as the girls were really good and they deserved to be placed in the top three. Looks good but no substance have no point for u guys to argue about as i know many of us only support pretty girls but dont you think if the girls are brainless, no point representing malaysia in the grand finals in hong kong. I feel embarass if we are represented but a pretty girl who are stupid. Hope you all dont argue. Let the miracle to be. God’s will

Hm……. I am a supporter of Miss Astro Pageant since the year Debbie Goh. This year I really felt disappointed with the stage and the costume. Come on I really can’t believe that that design opf stage can show up live on tv. Don’t u think is good like previous year in Arena Stars??? The “cheongsam” oh my god! I am wondering whether the designer is taking it seriously for this pageant????? Anyway I am happy that contestant No 11 was the champion. Come on Astro u can do better cos’ our girls have the potential. I am sure Anabella can do it like the seniors in coming International Pageant! I hope next year Astro will only made Final for 20 contestant, the semi is really boring.
Actually..I think the girls are equally beautiful. However, I must admit that the q and a session was a horror to me bcos the answers could not compete with the quality of the contestants’ looks..especially Emily..I think she is pretty but her answer that gain her the access to top 5 is truly ridiculous..I dun think she answered the question at all!!..and then I have seen Yen in person..and I agree that she is not as attractive in person compared in photos but I still think she should have won Miss photogenic instead cos she did looked great in the photos. And Vivian is quite pretty cos she is very elegant and looked splendid on stage..I like hers and Alexis’s figure the most bcos both of them have curves just like how a real woman should be! maybe the make up did not help her at all..I think the make up artist sabotaged vivian’s chance to win…I am impressed with her talent..too bad she didn’t win the award. Tiffanie does not deserve to be in top 5 though..because I have seen her in charming rendezvous and she did not looked elegant nor beautiful like the other contestants. I think personally the top 5 should be Eivonne, Alexis ( she answered quite well), Vivian, Annabelle and Yen…I hope the judges could be smarter next year and pls astro! hire better and more professional make up artist!…
Every year, i watched the Miss Astro.And i was really sad after watching the Miss Astro 2005 cuz its getting worse.Well i think some are really pretty but i dont think annabelle deserved to be the champion.When the 1st runner-up was announced , oh my god .. i gonna faint.The arena hmm .. i think its not really good too.What i hav to say is , the hair and costume designer,what a dissapointment !!
i want to comment about the stage and costume..the stage is very small,ugly and totally outmoded,is Astro facing financial problem??and the costume,isn’t that a well-known designer’s work?oh my god,even a small kid can design better than that..
the contestants are equally good-looking..different girls have different style in their own way..however,i wonder y the hair stylish make them into 1 look..everyone with the same hair style,i don’t think this will show their most beautiful way to the audience..Astro,please think about it!!all those negative comments…
There has been a lot of negative comments on this pageant, although there are good comments, but the negative are much more. Looks like we need to bring this to Astro’s attention. Should we forward this page to them?
ke poh, I totally agree with you on the contestants’ hair style. They definitely didn’t look very good, make the girls look very old and dull.
I watched the Charming rendezvous.Without those hair styles, they looks definitely better.I think those hair styles seems to be nice to those professional hair stylist ?Well , i think they hav to bear in mind that the hair style was designed for us to see,not them.
Is funny thou to read those comments left by the ppl out there..is kinda weird on how u guys judging the contestants where as u guys didn’t even know clearly on how and what they are really looking into these ladies.Pretty and dumb, smart but ugly; both these can’t fit into the criteria of pagent,i wonder what fits into this title if there’s no one perfect in this world?bet we are bit…maybe slightly too harsh on them..

i absolutely disagree what you have said on tiffany. have you seen her before (real face??). i know her, even though she is not good looking on the programme…yet in real person…u can faint!!!.. she looks gorgeous u know!!!! Do look through back the semi final, she has the best q and a answer as compared to the rest…. dont you think, you should not judge a person by cover, it does make you such a non-educated person…winner of this year pageant does ruin the whole event… the answer for q and a question.. for goodness sick…. DAMN CHILDISH!!! like a small kid singing on the stage… i’m really disappointed on the result…. do hope they can improve in the following year…

And what’s up with the judge? Are they blind of something? if they are blind, pls don’t be judge. They wasting their precious time. And one more thing I must mention with, pls choose some professional judge but not a newbie, not professional enough to give result.
I’m gonna see how the winner going to do her best for the upcoming international chinese pageant. I don’t really think she could do it.
I do really hope Astro could do something in this competition before the situation is getting really out of control.

erm…i wanna ke poh a bit huh..From what i observed in charming R,Tiffanie is a very confident person..somehow over confident…and i dun think she is gorgeous enough to make us faint??But her smile really make me faint..so ugly when she smile with the mouth wide open and u can even see the gums..sorry ar..i think this is too over..but i hope Tiffanie can just smile a bit in public..to make everyone comfortable..

Anyway, I think all the contestants are good looking and presentable. Of course we cannot compare with other larger pageants, such as the Miss Chinese Cosmos Pageant 2005. It’s sad, but I think almost all the contestants in this Miss Chinese Cosmos Pageant 2005 are better than our fellow beauties in Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2005.

I understand why some of the people were so disagree with the result. Actually this things happen every year.I dont know any of the contestant in the Miss Astro. But i really want to shout out something truely happen on me.
I joined other beauty contest before.I experienced the whole beauty contest process. V people used to clasify beauty into inner and outer, i really accept this.
Some of the contestant are well educated, they can speak good english, but their result in academic is lousy.Because of the beauty they have,they tend to change partner always. Some of them maybe had very good experience in presenting themselves in contest because they participated a few before. Beauty people not meaning beauty inside as well, because we wont know what happen when they go behind the stage.
I had come true this experienced. Contestant used to changed their clothes very fast in the middle of each show. The room for us to change clothes are messy. I lost my cloth at that time. I ask the contestant beside me to look into her bag and stuff, i really thought maybe she accidentally take it. She is really pretty,rich,sweet and well educated. She didnt even look at me and just answer no. I beg her a few times,she just angrily shouted inside the room,said ” I had told u i never took ur thing !!!Cant u hear that ?” I was hurt, she porposely make everybody thought i did something bad on her. She being the 1st runner up on that night. Izzit this call beauty ?

You must have heard that Annabelle Kong clinched 2nd runner up spot in Miss Chinese International Pageant 2005 early this year. Is this why the Astro and judges bashing has stopped?
Annabelle produced the second best result after Rachel Tan. She even did better than Angela Foo because she has an additional Ms Congeniality award too compare to Angela who has 2nd runner up title only. So people, have some respect to the judges and organiser whom have vast experiences in this beauty pageant industry. They chose the rightful winner. As for the styling of the girls, mind you it is done by Victor Goh, an award winning stylist whose work is recognised by the fashion and entertainment world, that including HK.

I would like to say something. I don’t think the Miss Astro Pageant competition unfair. The result will be deserved it properly. But, sometime the stylists set the pageants’ hair into such a not proper form. It will really break up the Miss Astro Pageant’s identity. In my opinion, I think the hair dressers should set their hair more better to look but not to gel their hair into such a inproper manner. For example, they should put down the hairs or even set their hair into circular formulae.
But, so far the astro judges have chosen those appropriate winner to represent Malaysia in MCIP. So far, the winners did very good job in MCIP. I strongly agree that in the future that Miss Astro will be done more well in the MCIP if the judges choose the really outstanding in physical appearance and also the personality winner to represent Malaysia at future MCIP. Thank you
I also agree that Miss Astro Pageant should not have the semi finals:-
1. It is wasting of time of the judges & Contestants
2. It is wasting the money of Astro
3. The Q&A section is almost the same in Final
4. One of the people said should have 20 contestants in Final and he is so correct.
5. People have to spend 2 times to watch who is going to get the title for the year.
In my opinion, Astro can test the contestants in other ways than having a semi finals:
For example, Astro could have some short courses to help to improve the behavior or quality of the contestants. Besides, Astro could have another semi finals by their own internally and not show on TV to choose which contestants are suitable to enter the finals.
We are not to copyright from other countries but just wish to cut short the time and choose a really suitable person to represent Malaysia at MCIP.
