Firefox Theme for your blogs
Oct 9th, 2005 by Neo
I was checking some of the Wordpress themes I downloaded and wondered I might make a theme of my own based on my favorite browser - Firefox. Wow, before long I find it actually required a lot of work and CSS knowledge…
Anyway, after a couple of days tweaking and hacking, the very first theme (based on Connections) from the Hot-screensaver is now freely available for Wordpress 1.5.
See screenshots below. Like it? Download it here.

Note that this is my first attempt at hacking a Wordpress theme. Any comment or feedback are much appreciated.
Update 19 Oct 2005
I received requests to remove the Firefox logo in the theme. To download it, please go to this page.
Update 14 Jul 2006
For a WordPress 2.0 compatible version of the Firefox Theme, please visit Martin Baranski’s blog at TroubleZone.net.

Looks like I get to the be the first to congratulate you - the theme looks great!
Could I use it as a base for my own theme?
Hi Jazzle, glad you like it.
Yes, you can use it as the base for your own theme. But please credit me and link back to this page. Let me know when it is released.
Thanks.
Whoa! Nice

Wow, this is one hot theme! My compliments to you on a job well done.

do you have the psd file avaiable for the top image?
Another note about the new layout
The new chengfu.net layout is a slightly modified version of the great Firefox-Theme by Jacky from hot-screensaver.com, thanks!

Hi, i saw your theme some days ago and decided to put it on my site, obviously with some changes on it, not too much.
I’m just searching and trying to play around with it to check what else i can do for it and made it more user friendly than it is ^^
Oh by the way, xD it’s in spanish my site, but you are welcome to see what i’ve done on the theme.
Everyone, thanks for using my Firefox theme; and thanks for customizing it
It surely feels great to see my theme being used on some of the blog sites.
ijob, yes, of course I have the PSD file for the top image. You would like to get rid of the Firefox logo? I think I can provide you with a plain top image in jpeg (without the Firefox logo and words) if you came back here again.
Jacky, that would be great, I love the theme but for the site I am going to use it for, i would like the image without the firefox if possible.
Many thanks
ijob
[…] It feels good to see some blogs are using the Firefox theme that I did for WordPress, although some of them customized the theme a little bit, especially the top graphic. Most of them removed the Firefox logo completely, now I understand some people may not like Firefox very much I don’t mind blog owners customizing it, in fact I would like to see people customizing it because I like creative work, provided you credit me by not removing the link to my blog. love this theme! thank you!
this will make a great base theme for my personal site. all i gotta do is customize the banner and credit you right?
the font and colors are perfect.
Good work!

I’m considering using this theme as part of a redesign of my site. You mentioned making a version of the header/footer graphics available without the Firefox logo/wording. Can you please post them or email them to me? I’d love to use this theme, but the Firefox stuff is kind of out of place.
Thanks!
seems like a great theme
Awesome I love it. I don’t think it really works with where I want to go with my site but you do good work.

Cool theme! Thank u! I am going to try it for my blog (:
Hi, I love your theme and I’m using it as the base for a site I’m doing for a friend. (credit and link backs will be given when complete!).
I’m having a problem with the CSS rendering in IE6, as the main content area appears bigger than the header..
I’ve been headbutting the qwall for what seams like weeks now trying to figure this one out… any ideas?
Oooo! This is soooo cute! I’m so using it for my blog/tutorial site!
Great job!
Hi !
I’m trying to use the theme for my new blog and was wondering how to change the sidebar box titles (’Section’, ‘Categories’, ‘Search’ etc). I can’t seem to find the code in the files to change them - can you point me in the right direction ?
Kind regards
Grant
Grant,
Thank you for liking the theme. Yes, the sidebar sections are in the file sidebar.php
Hope that helps. You can post your blog URL here after you have customized it, we all would like to see it.
Hi
Have installed the theme on my blog at http://blog.des-us.com, used the no firefox logo header. If the theme does not come up (I am still configuring my blog), you can just change it via theme-changer.
Thanks
Hey Jacky,
Loved what you did with the template… I tweaked it abit for my site - absolutecents.os3.sg (left a link for you in the “Credits” section) but I can’t seem to get the posts to shorten ie. “Read the rest of this entry>>”.
I only changed this part of the code to
but the full posts still show.
Was wondering if I did anything wrongly. Hope you could help me out on this!!
my code got left out:
ok sorry for spamming i’ll try without the
?php the_content(’Read more »’); ?
hopefully it’ll show this time
rustee,
Are you still having the problem? Changing the wording there should be fine. I assume you did put in the <!– more –> tag to shorten what is being displayed on the homepage?
Jacky, are you planning to release an update for your Firefox theme in order to get it fully compatible with WP 2.x?
Thanks in advance
yeah it still doesn’t cut off even with the arrows
not sure why this happens.. =\
must you specify a certain no. of characters for it before it gets cut off?
are there any other codes in any other files which make references to this command?
coz i checked the one in post.php and it seems alright
hey jacky ok i found that it’s a wp-admin prob and not a php prob… so sorry for spamming… i feel so dumb now DUH
could you delete all my comments as i don wanna clog up your space… thanks for the terrific job on the theme once again!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful… the themes I code never work properly in Internet Explorer, especially since I like transparent pngs, so I have my blog set up to automatically shunt IE users to your theme.
Wonderful! Wonderful!
[…] So… none of my themes really work in Internet Explorer. I like transparent pngs, and the layout gets all screwy in “that browser.” So I found this nifty Firefox theme… and I found this handy redirect script… and now IE browsers are automatically redirected to that theme. […]
