Under Water Aquaria KLCC
Oct 18th, 2005 by Neo
I have seen Aquaria KLCC being mentioned in the newspapers and some local blogs lately. The advertisements in the newspapers highlighted “an Ocean of Discovery” - now how can I resist to bring my girls to this ocean to discover some new knowledge? Immediately we dive into my car and off we venture into this newest tourist attraction which is located inside the new venue in town - the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

We parked our car in Suria KLCC (now we have to add Suria in front to avoid mis-understanding it for the KL Convention Centre) since we decided we would have our lunch there first. For the uninitiated, there is an underground walkway that links from Tower Records in Surial KLCC (lower ground floor) to KL Convention Centre. It is about 10 minutes walk and the walkway is very tastefully decorated.

The nice walkway.
The ticket price are as below:
Adult RM38, (With MyKad) RM28
Children RM26, (With MyKid) RM22
Malaysia Students RM28
Senior Citizens RM28
Now, a lot of people think this is very expensive. However, I personally feel it is not too bad. Just look at the Underwaterworld Singapore in our neighbouring country, their tickets are priced at S$19.50 (for adults) and S$12.50 (for children). So, in short they are comparatively priced. Once we have the tickets, off we went into the ocean… the staffs managed to wish us an enjoying afternoon. They were friendly and helpful.

The high-tech look entrance with a big projection screen in front which displayed tips “Did you know that…”
Some creatures the second-class photographer managed to snap. Note: you are allowed to snap as many photos as you like inside the aquaria as long as you do not use flash. Malaysians sometimes are ignorant - I did see some flashing away happily.

Chinese Water Dragon. From China? Otherwise how come the Chinese lar?

Poisonous Rock Frog. Do they look like rocks?

Malaysian Earth Tiger Tarantula. I believe this one is deadly too… better stay away…

Tiub aquarium. Cool, don’t you think so?

Err… not too sure what are these called.

Very high-tech design touch-screen information kiosk. However, the one that I tried on was not very responsive, the mouse cursor which was supposed to respond to my finger movement, didn’t really corporate. But I didn’t try the next kiosk because I was ushered into the tunnel by my girls.
To be continued…

very nice, i should’ve went there the last time i was in kl, oh well, next time..
[...] The Aquaria KLCC is truely a big fascinating aquarium that showcases exceptional “education and entertainment” elements. As I said in my Under Water Aquaria KLCC post, before I could take a second look at the next touch screen information kiosk, I was ushered into the tunnel aquarium by my girls. [...]
Oh! Looks attractive! Can imagine how Fatt & Owen look excited if we drop by KL and visit there next time.
I consider the price OK, come think about it how many time we will go to the KLCC Aquaria in one year? (of cause mine is different case lar) so RM28 w/MyKad, OK mah, see our kid’s face beaming with joy worth it lor, unless they come out sour face lar.
I think Aquaria is not a good place to go, and I really think pet shops have better displays, for paying Ringgit Malaysia 38.
I’m a Visitor to Malaysia and I was thinking it must be great to have some thing like this in the city, but after I went see it… is like normal pet shops.
But I was happy for one thing, at the gift shops there was doing some photos and my kids really enjoy taking photos with the Sharks, Disney with the nemo, that is some thing hard to find in our place. We really enjoyed that.
