IKEA Malaysia Shopping
Dec 27th, 2005 by Neo
I took the Christmas holiday opportunity to do some shopping spree in IKEA Malaysia. Wow, the crowd was hugh, although the store is pretty big, but there were still people in every corners and on every chairs. People were just taking full advantage of the holiday, and taking their time to try out the items on display.
IKEA is well known for their uniquely designed furnitures. But, once you are at their store, you will be amazed to see so many other varieties of well designed, functional home furnishing products. Check out some of the pictures I took with my Nokia phone.

Left: Plastic bag dispenser, nice idea eh? Right: They even have toilet bowl cleaner.

Can you believe it? They even sell plants and plant pots now. Right: The IKEA self-servicing warehouse which you will have to go through on your way out.

Left: Another look at the warehouse from in front of the payment counters. Right: Although all the counters were open, there were still quite long queues.
So, what have I got myself as Christmas gift from IKEA? It is a Poang armchair, which costs RM339. Initially, I was a bit undecided whether to get the Poang, or to get the Pello armchair, which costs RM129. The price difference is quite significant. You do the math and you will find out that you can get 2 Pello with the price of 1 Poang, with some left for the savings. But further inspection on the quality reveals that the Pello obviously has thinner cushion and less curvy armrests - thus less comfortable. Conclusion, just get the Poang lar
As with most IKEA furnitures, the Poang armchair is plug-and-play needs to be assembled by yourself. It took me about 20 minutes with the help of my girls.

Left: My nice Poang armchair in my living room. Look at the nice curvy armrests, and also the thick comfy cushion. Finally a nice chair for me to rest while I enjoy my TV. Right: I also got myself two cute ice cubes maker. RM5 each. Cheap or not?
If you like to do some walking and prefer nicely designed home furnishings, pay IKEA a visit.

Adam, Larawannabe; IKEA’s products are very nicely designed by professionals. Even if we don’t buy, it is definitely beneficial to go there to get some ideas - of how to arrange our home furnitures, etc.
