NEC Celeron Laptop for Auction
Jan 19th, 2006 by Neo
I bought this NEC Versa Premium laptop about 3 years ago which happen to be my first laptop. It costed me roughly RM3.5k. The laptop is powered by Intel Celeron 850MHz, 64MB RAM, and a 20GB hard disk drive. The pre-loaded operating system was Windows Millenium then, but I have formatted it a few times naturally and installed it with Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

The speed is obviously very slow. I guess the bootup process usually takes about 3 minutes - although I didn’t really time it - but it surely feel like hell long. While the laptop is booting, you can see the hard disk LED blinking and blinking and blinking, the system must be busy reading data off the hard disk… probably due to the slow processing power of the Celeron and the lack of RAM. Usually I will just walk away to make myself a cup of tea while waiting

Left: The Intel Inside logo. Right: The network. Connected to my house LAN via a PCMCIA network card.
Anyway, since I last formatted it, I have not installed a lot of applications on it b’coz it is not worth wasting time installing. I have only installed an Antivirus and an office suite. I guess the less application I load on it, the less crowded the hard disk is, it may run a little faster.
What do you think I should do with this first laptop of mine?
- Put it on auction on ebay? How much can get ah? Will anybody bid?
- Play Solitaire and Minesweeper on it?
- Donate it?

Assuming you are in Malaysia, which you should be if you are pinging PPS, sell it on http://www.lelong.com.my or Low Yat forums.
yalo..lelong it locally..I guess it could get you few hundred bucks….rm100 ???….
hey funny! I have the same laptop as you but mine is powered by Intel Pentium. It is pretty fast but my fan is super noisy! It makes this loud noise after I switch it on for awhile.. it is goddamn irritating!!!!
wow… your notebook sure looks not old.
btw, can try lelong.com.my or ebay.com.my.
If no1 wants it, I’m willing to take away the notebook for less than RM200 if possible
- i just want a usb-enabled ‘kinda portable’ media for storage.
SpyMy, yes, I am in Malaysia. I will consider lelong.com.my probably.
heather, Pentium is definitely faster. Changes are that your RAM could be much more too.
