Cute Red Underwear Brings Good Luck to the Chinese New Year

For us the Chinese, red is the color of good luck and is used as a symbol of prosperity, blessing, happiness, vitality and of course good luck in many occassions, such as during holidays and weddings. Chinese babies are given their names at a red-egg ceremony.
One very important tradition of the Chinese New Year is exchanging gifts. A traditional gift that is given is small red packets filled with “lucky money”. These envelopes are given to children by their family and friends. The red color is used to bring good fortune, and the money inside is used by the children to buy holiday treats. These red packets symbolize the giving of good fortune.
Now, you know how much we like the red color. We like the color so much that we are wearing them under our pants.
Red men’s underwear emblazoned with auspicious animals and characters have become the rage among Malaysian Chinese ahead of the Chinese lunar New Year holidays, the New Straits Times reported.
Red is considered an auspicious color among the Chinese, and an essential component of feng shui, the Chinese belief of improving fortunes.

I read about this in the STAR paper today as well.. The shop they referring to in the paper is The Under Shop in 1 Utama. Previously I see lots of red-coloured bras and panties on sales but now they come out with red-coloured briefs/trunks
I guess my family is different from most others.. We don’t practise wearing red coloured clothes on CNY; sometimes we even wear black-coloured clothes on first day of CNY
