Genting Highlands Free and Easy
Feb 21st, 2006 by Neo
A few family members and I went to spend the weekend at Malaysia’s only casino resort that lies amidst the freshness of cool mountain air about 6,000 feet above sea level - The Genting Highlands. We drove all the way from KL and checked in at the Ria Apartments. We have chosen Ria Apartments as opposed to the hotels because of our big group of people, it is definitely more cost effective to use the apartments compared to the hotels. There were 12 of us.

We stayed at the Pahang Tower. The other tower is called the Selangor Tower.

This is the spacious living room of the Three-Room Unit we took. Not bad for RM240 standard rate huh? Ops, the kids scattered the mahjong table
Before long, we found ourselves in the Indoor Theme park area, where the kids enjoyed playing in the SnowWorld. Indeed it was very cold, but a good way to experience winter just 45-minutes away from the capital city of Kuala Lumpur!
Let’s check out some of the pictures I took.

Eiffel Tower in Genting.

Horse Ride.

Boat Ride.

Monkeys Show??

Clock Tower.
Wow, it was already 11:30pm. Time to head off to try our luck at Blackjack, Keno, Roulette or a host of the other casino games. But remember to sleep early, because Genting has a lot of other recreational facilities waiting for us at the outdoor Theme Park that are not to be missed.
See you tomorrow!
In the meantime, if you are looking for a hotel to stay while you battle in the casino, then I recommend Malaysia Hotels. They have a long list of the major hotels in Malaysia, especially the Genting hotels.

That place looks really appealing - and I especially like the first and third photos - great job!
Good luck with the games!
i’ve never been to genting, didn’t know they have theme park up there..maybe one day i will go.
wow genting changed alot since my last visit. must go there again sometime this year.
i always admire your merry-go-round shots ie the horse ride pix and the ferries wheel pix.
they look extremely nice
Furkids, the first pic was nicer in its original resolution. I have saved the pic in lower resolution in order to reduce the file size for faster download.
wuching, you should go to Genting when you are back in Malaysia.
Che-Cheh, yes, they have installed some new rides as well. Try them, must be fun.
jellyfish, you want to try the horse ride?
the very first time i went to genting, i stayed in the ria apartment too - also 12 of us all in the family (immediate family and brother’s family). yep nice place. later on, i had stayed in resort hotel, theme park hotel and first world hotel.
i don’t really like genting but i went there several times was because of ‘family reunion’.
cool pics!! welcome back from genting! haha..wei people say Ria Apartments haunted wan leh..i liked the clock tower pic!
lucia, Ria Apartment is only good if the group is big because it is very economical. The hotels are better in terms of facilities, comfort, cleanliness, nearer to the casino, etc.
J, haunted? you scared me lar
i scared of Ria too..
why afraid of ghost if you haven’t done anything wrong/bad? good lah to have an extra visitor.
well people also said first world hotel haunted. and there was a story going around that some youngsters found a dead body under the bed of a room in first world hotel. i heard that yet i still go to the hotel.
eh yeahla.. they say haunted wan la..but i not sure la.. they say got one room, they put the yellow paper in front of the door, and they sealed up the place..but i not sure laa.. i may be wrong..
Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, professionals built the Titanic. …just a wise saying, couldn’t help myself
i juz came bak from genting few days ago…….. well…. i also stayed at ria apartment.. selangor tower.. level 18….. first nite.. there was nothing…. when second nite.. around 3++a.m….. i heard some noise… juz like a ppl are breathing.. wah~….scary~~~ after came bak to kl…
my fren borrow me a vcd.. title is “haunted explorer”… the story happened in ria apartment too………. omg!!!!!!!
request. I want job at genting as a clerk.
Ghosts?? Well, sometimes, I think it has to do with what previous occupants had been doing to ‘invite’ the ghosts in. It is always good practice to pray over the place whenever you go to a new place… ie: hotels or resorts.
I am going there on Wednesday in order to find out the truth, whether is it haunted or not. I have seen strange things from small till my age of 17 now, so I have decided to go there for I have confirmed that there is my key for my answer.
