My Pagerank dropped to ZERO
Feb 23rd, 2006 by Neo
Just now I was shocked to see that my blog’s PageRank was showing ZERO. Wah, from PR4 drop to PR0 in a day… all hard work gone down in the Rejang river. A quick check reveals that Google has been updating the PageRank since last week (or a couple of weeks back).

PageRank check at Mcdar.net across Google’s various datacenters returns the above. Looks like the PR is jumping between 0, 4 and 5, and before long it should hopefully settle at PR5.
Why it doesn’t jump to PR6?
PageRank is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page’s ranking in the search results.
PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page’s importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page’s PageRank is calculated.
