An evening at Pearl International Hotel
Mar 24th, 2006 by Neo
Last weekend my girl and I had a wonderful evening at the famous Pearl International Hotel, which is located at Old Klang Road, KL. Why did we go there? To celebrate my birthday? To celebrate my promotion? No no… actually we went there to share the joy of a newly wed - Ivan and Mandy. This loving couple is my girl’s colleagues.
Let’s see some interesting photos that I, the Second-class photographer captured that evening.

This nice heart-shaped-photo-in-ice statue greeted us at the entrance to the Phoenix Ballroom of the hotel.

The reception area where you hand over your hard earned money - the laisi. How come still do the checklist manually, not using a laptop or PDA?
We reached the hotel at around 7:20pm and successfully checked into the Phoenix Ballroom at half past 7. The dinner supposedly should start at 7pm sharp. But as a usual practice here in KL, wedding dinners would usually start 1 to 2 hours late. So, the busybody me just wandered around the place looking for goodies to shoot. Let’s have a look…

The souvenirs for us. The nice pair of chopstick for the gentlemen symbolising wealth and prosperity. The heart-shaped fragrant for the ladies wishing them love luck.

Wow. A samurai sword! Later they used this to cut the 8 stories tall cake.

The guests were entertained with this nice slideshow while waiting for the food to be served. The 8 stories tall cake in the foreground.

Finally the bride and the bridegroom were seated. That two seats look like big and comfortable.

And the moment we were all waiting for, the dinner… led by some torch carrying boys.
Let’s check out the yummy food. Warning, these pics will make you extremely hungry…

This is of course the first dish, the Diamond Five Hot & Cold Combination. We finished this dish clean because we were so hungry

This one tasted very nice. Love the chicken. It’s called the Crispy Chicken with Barbecue Malt Cereal.

The dessert. Sweetened water chestnut with egg white. Delicious.

Some lucky gentlemen were on stage playing games. The game was pretty simple actually, you were required to collect 10 items as quickly as the emcee announced them and the quickest 3 were invited onto the stage. Then, you perform some gentlemen catwalk and the one who received the loudest applause from the crowd, walked away with tokens from the newly wed.
Now, I have also recorded a short video clip of the highlight of the night. The yumsheng! Enjoy the video below…
