Cockroach Controlled Mobile Robot
Apr 18th, 2006 by Neo
Not too long ago, I made a post on Mind Control Playing Pong - No Mouse, No Keyboard, No Joystick!, that was bizarre. This time, what about something more bizarre? Something about cockroaches?

A gigantic cockroach!
Let me introduce you to the Cockroach Controlled Mobile Robot.

Crowd watching the Cockroach Controlled Mobile Robot in action.
This is an experimental mechanism that uses a living Madagascan cockroach on top of a modified trackball to control a three-wheeled robot. For example, if the cockroach moves left, the robot moves left. When sensors on the robot detect an immobile object ahead, such as a wall, a bright light flashes at the cockroach; as she scuttles away from the light, the robot moves away from the wall.

We play a game at my brother’s house…everyone gets a squirt bottle and when someone sees a cockroach… WE SHOOT IT! Quick draw…those little suckerz are FAST! But this type of cockroach is different and usually seen as a pet, not a pest. Silly peoples.
