Spyware caught on my Computer
Apr 18th, 2006 by Neo

Microsoft AntiSpyware detects a spyware.
Check the screen capture above. Did a spyware scan just now and see what Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1 found! An “Unclassified.Spyware.Loader” which is a spyware that automatically starts when Windows starts by hiding itself in a number of different startup locations. Scary, isn’t it?
Luckily this free program which I downloaded from Microsoft last time saved my day. The spyware was successfully removed and destroyed. Yeah…

After the detailed checkup, my PC is clean now.
For your information, Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1 has been updated to Beta2 and the name has since been changed to Windows Defender. But the best is that it still remains a free software from Microsoft.
Windows Defender (Beta 2) helps to protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software. It features Real-Time Protection, a monitoring system that recommends actions against spyware when it’s detected, and a new streamlined interface that minimizes interruptions and helps you stay productive.
To download this must have software, please go to the Windows Defender homepage. I am still using Beta1, probably I should download and upgrade to Beta2… Ok, later.

Thanks for the info. I have Spybot and Ad-aware. Now I am going to try this out too. No such thing as being too careful when it comes to computers.
I have something but forget what it’s called. opps..it’s to prevent hacker to hack/scan our pc. I think I’m talking in the wrong topic.
thanlks for sharing Jacky!!!
lotsa problems with pcs nowadays!! Sigh!
this is good but it is for those with original windows only. my office is using ori so i can use it but my house…. shhh!!… no can use it lah.
i’m using lavasoft’s ad-aware at the moment for both. i will start using windows defender for my office.
yeah, thanks for sharing.
Adam,
Yes, spybot and ad-aware are two very popular anti-spywares. But loading too many anti-spywares and antivirus programs will slow down your computer tremendously.
Che-Cheh,
A firewall software?
Food lover,
Welcome. Better go eat some food, right?
lucia,
Yeah, the Microsoft download site will try to check if your copy of Windows is original or not. If the check failed, you can’t download, you can’t update all the Windows patches too. But, got crack ah? No?
I still prefer to use Ad-aware or spybot instead of this Microsoft AntiSpyware, it’s new software and I don’t know how good it is.
