Malacca Tan Kim Hock
May 1st, 2006 by Neo
On Sunday, I took the public holiday opportunity to travel all the way from KL to Malacca with a friend of mine. The following Monday will be a holiday, so we can expect to take some rest. Since I am so tired today after the trip, I simply cook myself Maggi Mee for lunch on Monday.
One of the must-go place in Malacca is of course the Tan Kim Hock Product Centre. What a weird name it may sound, but that’s what I got from the payment receipt. Since the shop is located along a very busy main road, parking become a little problem. But after making a few rounds around the shop, we finally found a good spot. Off we went into the shop…

Baskets are available so you can carry tonnes of goodies.
Wow, packed with people inside! And although the place is air-conditioned, it was warm inside. Got to find the direction where the air-con blows to cool down first before I start my food hunt

Hill formation.
Look at how the hundreds of foodstuff are neatly placed in hill like formation. Do you know that much of the raw materials are grown in his own estates and products are made in his own factories? Some of the specialities are:
* Dodol (coconut or durian flavored)
* Honey lime juice
* Various candies (ginger, coconut, durian etc)
* Sauces like sambal belacan and cincalok

Various types of food are placed in bottles, paper boxes and cans.

Cincalok sauce.

Honey Lime Juice. RM18.90 per bottle. Can you see the price?

Hong Kong Lau Phor Biscuit. How come they have this too?
Now, let’s check out what we have amassed from this place.

For my supper in the nights
Total damage from the shop is about RM62. My favorite is the Cris-Crisp Fish Rolls, crispy and addictive!
If you are interested, below is their address:

Anyway Baba Tan Kim Hock famous for his coconut candies. But nowadays, his nicely packaging product go global too.
Who want to order his product, cause I’m in Melaka almost every weekend.
Ha… Tan Kim Hock…..
I remember once I went to Melaka with colleagues (KL HQ) and met up with a Malaccan colleague (works in our Melaka branch)… who was supposed to bring us here and there. He’s a nice Malay guy.
So, then we asked him “Eh, bang, Tan Kim Hock kat mana ?” . He just gave us a puzzled look and replied “Siapa? Siapa Tan Kim Hock. Tak kenal lah.” We were like “gosh, but we don’t blame his ignorance. He’s malay and maybe stuffs sale in Tan Kim Hock is non-halal.”
Man, that was funny.
I love their old Durian Chendol. Now they only have Durian Mocci. hohoho Tan Kim Hock is also known as San Shu Gong (Sa Cik Kong in hokkien). Isn’t it?
hey ya. i’m one of the people working there and i serve people cendol… is the cendol there really nice? thx ya.. come again if you come to malacca!!
Dear Sir,
May i have the correct person to contact with? I went to Malacca on 10th Feb 08 and bought some food at Tan Kim Hock outlet. Yet, the Tambun Biscuit that we bought had already spoiled whereby the expired dated is on 13/03/08???
We called to the outlet and the people keep denying and saying their biscuit never spoiled before.
Please refer to below details for investigation:
1. receipt number : 1020034808
2. expired date printed on the box: 13/03/08
3. Bar code stated on the box : 12-99-00-179-0
4. Address for the specific industry: A1 Food Marketing Penang
If this is not the correct department to response to, kindly assist to the correct email address. Shall we courier back the spoiled Tambun Biscuit to the Malacca outlet for varification?
Many thanks!
Miss Choo,
I think it’s best if you can bring the spoiled biscuit to the Malacca outlet for on-the-spot verification. Make sure you bring the receipt as well. With the receipt and spoiled biscuit, there is no reason they would deny a replacement, and maybe some form of compensation.
This is only my advise, but if you think it’s not worth the hassle, then you might as well forget it since the biscuit doesn’t cost too much I believe.
For your info, I am not related to Tan Kim Hock and I don’t work for him. I am merely a consumer myself.
Hello!
I am visiting melaka on the coming week. so i would like to know the “Malacca Tan Kim Hock†business hour. Could you let me know the openning hours?
Thank you so much!
Joe
I have bought 2 bottles of Lime Juice with Honey (1 litre) and nearly finish
consuming. May I know if I want to order how should I do it?
Dear Sir. My name is Wil de Rozario and on my site, a family tree , you can see my roots are going back to Malacca. http://members.chello.nl/a.w.de.rozario/index.html
I want to inform if it is possible to import your famous Malaysian Cake, Dodol, to the Netherlands. They don’t sell it here anymore. Waiting for an answer and with respect for you, regards Wil.
