Malacca Half Day Tour - Jonker Walk
May 4th, 2006 by Neo
Jonker Walk, Jonker Street, or Jalan Hang Jebat while having variation, they are all actually referring to the same narrow street located in the heart of Malacca Chinatown. Anyway, myself prefer to simply call it Jonker Walk.
Let’s see what we have here.

Scary figurines! Want to buy one of these to ward off evil spirits?

Amazing sculptures made from wood, clay and stone.

Colorful wooden clogs. Do you want to get one of these and wear it to go shopping in 1 Utama?

Lively giraffes!
Suddenly something across the street caught our attention. How come so many people line up in front of the shop? The queue was so long, until there were people waiting on the street!

Nasi Ayam Hoe Kee.
Perhaps this is one of the chicken rice restaurant who is famous for its Malacca Chicken Rice Balls? We went and enquired. Wow, to tabau would also need to wait for up to 30 minutes! Forget it, come again next time

Clothes. Don’t let your girlfriend or wife see this, otherwise you know lar…

Kinetic Chicken - no batteries, they move by themselves. Very cute and funny.
I bet you never saw anything like that before, right? The wooden chickens move on the plate by themselves. Their creator is so smart and creative, can come up with such a cute toy. Check out the video below.
Coincidentally it was a weekend, so we get to experience the open air night market which is held every weekend evening to late night. It was an unforgettable experience to have a leisure stroll along the walk, observing the locals’ life, and try out some local delicacies. I will perhaps show you these delicacies at a later time…
