Pattaya Rice
May 7th, 2006 by Neo
This is what I had for lunch today, Pattaya Rice, packed from a Malay restaurant near my house.

Pattaya Rice at RM3.50.
I opted to pack the rice back and enjoy it at home because Thomas Cup 2006 final was being telecasted live on Astro. Although Malaysia couldn’t make it into the final, but the clash between China and Denmark was still very exciting. How could a badminton fan like myself miss the live telecast?

Wrapped in an omelette with cucumber, chili sauce, and fried onion.
Pattaya Rice or Nasi Pattaya in Malay, is made up of fried rice placed inside an omelette that is shaped like a pouch. Usually the omelette is topped with some chili sauce and fried onions. And it comes complete with a couple slices of cucumber.

The fried rice.
Break open the omelette pouch and we have the fried rice. Yummy.
Pattaya Rice is a very common dish in Malaysia, and is usually available in Malay stalls and restaurants. Compare this to the Chinese omelette rice known as the Seremban Egg Rice.
