High-tech Trishaw in Malacca
May 9th, 2006 by Neo
An interesting and “must try experience” for visitors to the historical city of Malacca is the unique trishaw ride. The trishaw (tricycle or better known as beca in Malay) ride is the best way to enjoy Malacca in a slow and laid-back relaxing manner. It is also a cheap and excellent way to see the narrow streets of Malacca especially around the old sectors of the town, that you could easily miss out on if you decide to venture out on your own.

Trishaw in action.
Let’s check out some pictures of the nicely decorated trishaw we saw in Malacca.

Nicely decorated trishaw.

Beautiful beca! Wanna take a ride? RM20 per ride, not sure if that’s enough to round the whole Malacca?
Now, check out this high-tech trishaw. We can’t believe what we saw, this proud owner of the trishaw installed a TFT Color Monitor on his vehicle! Complete with DVD player, and amplified loud speakers. This is more high-tech than my car!

High-tech trishaw. I wonder what’s it like to have a ride on this one?
Enjoy this short video clip…
I don’t think trishaws like this can be found in a lot of places. Do you think so?

Che-Cheh,
Not a problem with the two trishaw owners I approached. They gladly let me snap pictures of their vehicles. One of them even proudly introduced his high-tech gear (the DVD player) to us.
I’m fat and heavy. I don’t like to abuse people. Kthxbai! ;p
[...] My friend just got the car about 2 weeks earlier and so far is satisfied with it. Although the 7-seater MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) comes with a 1.3-litre engine, it is powerful enough and speeds like a 1.5-litre car when you have up to 4 passengers loaded. Contributing to the high power is the latest high-tech VVT-i multi-valve four-cylinder powerplant. However, when you actually have 7 people on the car, it become very much under-powered! The car will not move faster than a trishaw [...]
