Duty Free Guinness Beer

Upon touching down in Langkawi, we were approached by car rental operators just outside of the arrival hall. After some negotiation with the various operators, we finally settled with a 7-seater MPV, Nissan Serena. I have always thought that Serena is a luxurious first class vehicle on the road, with spacious interior… but was a little shocked to see the actual car!

Nissan Serena. Luxury car?
Haha, yes, it’s spacious… but was so old and lack of maintenance. Anyway, can’t expect much as the rental for 3 days was RM220. Fuel was really low, we were reminded to refuel immedialy upon receiving the keys from the operator… talking about fuel price hike here!!
After checking in to the resort, we immediately set out in our new Nissan Serena on look out for lunch! That brought us to the Kuah town - perhaps the only town in Langkawi. After some searching, we settled for a small restaurant… I think it’s called “Ai Ren Seafood Restaurant” - opposite of another restaurant called “Teoh Seafood Restaurant” which had more diners, but we didn’t want to wait too long because of our tight schedule.
The Kuah town doesn’t look like very lively at all… I must say it’s a very quiet town. It’s not easy to look for a place to eat too! Perhaps caused by the World Cup fever? Everybody was staying at home watching the World Cup?

My friend with his Guinness Beer. Cheers.
Langkawi is of course famous for its historical tourist attractions, and duty free shopping shops! For my friend who loves to drink, the duty free Guinness Beer which is priced at RM3 per bottle, is his favorite. Just imagine how cheap it’s to drink in Langkawi, the price is less than half of that in KL.
My friend was in heaven with the bottle of beer
Our first lunch in Langkawi was satisfying. We ordered several dishes, there were Seremban fried eggs, Tomyam Seafood Soup, Mixed Vegetables, Prawns, among others. It costed about RM60++ for a table of 6 persons.

car rentals are always like that. Needless to say, they don’t maintain the car, and of course, fuel is always on the red zone. Don’t expect much from them dude. as long as it can drive u around and pick up ur family, it’s nice already
