    Yep, that’s weird, and if it was the only weird thing here in Japan, I mean I’ve been living here for 2 years, and there isn’t a day when I don’t wonder: “what the hell am I doing here ?!”; I had never thought before I came here that it would be so weird, nothing to do with what we think about it, I really don’t understand why Japan is becoming more and more famous and fashionable, these people are just… don’t even come to STAY in Japan.

    We do celebrate a fertility festival, phallic images are the source of life. Waaaaay back when it was hard to keep a family alive, fertility festivals were held to beckon life into the people. Now it is just carried on as tradition.

    Well, without penis, life would be lonely.
    However, to my best knowledge, in Korea a little island call Cheju.
    The village people also worship penis. Their tradition in the village respect guys, cos they believe without the penis, the population will be gone. So it’s a symbolic to have off spring. I agree, if my BF dun have cock, I won’t have fun all night.

    this festival is great fun! My favorite part is towards the end when the shinto priest are on the roof of the buiding throwing balls of white mochi down to the crowds of people…and all the people fight to try and catch a ball of goodluck mochi, and getting hurt in the process. Oh and the free sake is a big plus too!! This festival is to thank, worship or pray to the fertility gods.
