Golden Bread Cafe at SS2, Petaling Jaya
Jul 19th, 2006 by Neo
A friend from Singapore came back to Kuala Lumpur for her weekend rest last week. Since my girl has not met her for quite a few years, we decided to drop by her place for a nice lunch and to catch up. She is an ex-classmate of my girl who went to work in Singapore. People say in Singapore you can get double or many times more the pay you can get in Malaysia… and once you have stayed there for a couple of years, you become prettier and lovelier…
We had our lunch at one of the special eateries in SS2, called the Golden Bread Cafe. The cafe is located along the area where there are many other good eating places, one of them famous for their desserts.

Golden Bread Cafe. Cute design!
This eatery is known for their fried bread stick (yau ja gwai or youtiao), one of my favorite snack.
Let’s see what we ordered.

Hong Kong Style Fish Tomato Rice at RM4.50.

Fried Rice with Chicken and Egg at RM3.50; the inset shows Fried Slice Chicken Ham Lai Fun at RM5.80.
Look at the nicely fried egg topped on the fried rice. It’s so perfect and round - must be done by the chief chef! But, I guess perhaps their wok is special too, maybe those non-stick type.

Thai Sauce Chicken Chop Rice at RM4.80; the inset is the Satay Sauce Chicken Chop Spaghetti at RM6.80.
Reminder, both the above are extremely hot and spicy. Notice there are so many chilli padi seeds covering both the dishes… too hot to my liking… I was sweating buckets! Extra tissues are a must preparation if you are not used to a mouthful of chilli padi!
I know you have been wondering where’s the golden bread/fried bread stick. Now, here it’s.

Crab Stick Salad Char Kui - mouthful name! Cost is RM3.80
The golden bread is simply delicious. Eat that together with the salad that comes with the dish, it’s wonderful! The bread/stick is not too oily, so much different from those you get at night market, which costs you RM0.50 per stick. Those are really oily sticks!

So much food. Mouth watering?

Lengluis. Too bad, the picture is not clear because of the bright light outside. More mouth watering?
Comfortable environment. Worth checking out, best for your afternoon tea

Jee,
Actually their food is quite good, especially the golden bread/youtiao. The food there is reasonably priced (cheap) too. But Thai Sauce Chicken Chop Rice is really too hot for me!
Well I certainly hope that they have improved since their opening.. will give them a 2nd try.
Tip: the eatery next door had many more patrons
Now this is CHEAP. hehehe
So which one is your girl in the last pict ?
