Little Penang Cafe at The Curve
Jul 29th, 2006 by Neo
I know I have been telling you that we were actually very hungry while we were watching the performances at the Centre Court, The Curve. After I have taken a few shots of the clowns, we finally couldn’t stand the starving anymore and decided to hunt for our dinner. Can you believe it, we starved ourselves so that we can watch the performances and take pictures!
We did a quick survey and at the end we settled for Little Penang Kafe, (Yes, it’s Kafe rather than Cafe. How come?) because we heard their laksa and nasi lemak are recommendable. The cafe’s decoration is simple, albeit you can feel a retro atmosphere. Reminisce of the 80s.

The Best of Penang under one roof - so they claim!
The evening was very busy, all the tables were occupied with patrons. Anyway, we managed to secure a table after a few minutes wait… and luckily the waiter was brisk with our orders. Understand lar, they have to be quick in order to serve more customers

Penang Nasi Lemak @ RM9
This is the (authentic or not?) Penang Nasi Lemak which I ordered. It has two small asam prawns, a small piece of don’t-know-what-fish covered with sambal, ikan bilis sambal, half egg and fragrance santan rice. Eh… no ground nuts? Anyway, I don’t think it tastes great, the fish was hard, and the portion is small too for that sort of price. The Curry Mee that my girl had is much better…

Curry Mee @ RM9
Look at the bowl of hot curry mee! Salivating already! Haha… The curry soup is not too spicy and tastes marvellous. I curi-curi sampled the soup and the mee when my girl was not looking. Hahaha

Ice Kacang @ RM4.50
Ice Kacang, a refreshing Malaysian dessert that everyone loves especially on a hot tiring evening. The dessert comes in a mixture of sweet red beans, peanuts, creamed corn and black-colored jelly. The shaved ice is flavoured with syrup and evaporated milk. But what shocked me was that there are a few small pieces of banana hiding among the ingredients! Haha, really my first time. What a great discovery about Penang’s ice kacang!
