My Aircon is Fixed Finally
Sep 29th, 2006 by Neo
The aircon unit in my bedroom has not been functioning well since a few weeks back. Although I set the temperature to the lowest and the fan speed to turbo and highest, the room was still as warm as without an aircon. I don’t think I’ll be able to survive very long in that condition, and everyday the broken aircon was torturing me!
As much as I like to DIY the aircon just like how I fixed the water tap, I don’t think I can do it myself this time. Luckily I got a service person to help me out.

Spraying chemical detergent into the aircon.

Washing the aircon with water.
Look how he skillfully sat on the ladder and did the chemical washing. The canvas was used to guide the dirt, chemical detergent and water into the bucket. The water was supplied from a mini electrical pump.
The whole process sound complicated and difficult to untrained people like us. Don’t you think so?
After that, it’s time to pay some attention to the compressor outside of the room. He inspected it and told me that it needed some gas filling!

Filling up the compressor gas.
Look at the picture above. The small tank is where the gas supply was coming from I guess. The gas filling was pretty fast, and before long everything was done and paid for. It costed RM150 for everything… I think it’s a fair deal since the aircon is functioning very well now just like a brand new unit.
Tonight I can have a sound sleep

dragoncity,
Yes, need to chemical clean it and pump in gas. Now, it’s freezing cold at night even when I set it to 25 degree
RM150?! It’s usually only RM80-RM90 usually for an hour’s work including gas refill.
For RM150, you can get an entire 1 HP aircon & compressor unit install, including switch, copper tubes (expensive), piping, compressor metal bracket, transport etc! Senheng having promotion now, only RM69 installation. So, RM150…….. think you can bargain next time.
[...] way they chemical washed it was so different from how the other fella did it last time. Read more My Aircon is Fixed Finally. This time they detached the blower and the compressor completely! Wow… this was the very [...]
