Ooh.. Only for signboards huh? Then again, why can't the government just acccept the fact that Manglish (or Rojak) has been used even before independance? The use of Manglish is also a way to show Malaysian's characteristic as a multicultural country with different unique languages.

Well, just my two cents anyway. At the end of the day, I don't really care.

i thought the fine is for incorrect/improper usage of BM on signboards only, not for everyday use/speak.

i saw it in the star paper dated 5 oct.
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/10/5/nation/15635115&sec=nation
it was reported the cabinet allow dewan bahasa dan pustaka to fine people for incorrect usage of BM on signboards. i did thought of blogging about it but then other more interesting (political) issues surfaced so didn't.

yalah since what you thought is a funny joke and doesn't make sense... well it doesn't if it applies for all usage, but the report was meant for incorrect usage of signboards (or even road signs) only.
