This is the time again. The long awaited annual Astro Chinese International Pageant is coming to you again! 10 Malaysian Chinese beauties are all set to battle it out at Genting Highlands on November 4 2006, at 8:00pm.
Do remember to tune in to Astro Wah Lai Toi to catch the exciting final! Let’s see who is going to be crowned the new Miss Astro Chinese International and walk away with fabulous prizes including RM30k cash and a brand new Nissan X-Trail 2.0 worth RM129,800.

Some of you mentioned Lam Mei Ling (number 4) and Clare Wong Yee Chin (number 1).
I personally feel that Clare’s smile is the sweetest and she looks prettiest among all the finalists in the close up pictures page. However, in the group photo she doesn’t look so nice… any idea which one is her? Back row, 2nd from right?
She looks pretty from certain angles. She was our model for all the promotional brochures and booklets.

My prediction is the final five will be contestant no 1,2,5,8, and 3. Not neccessarily in that order.
Surprisingly,these are the finalists. I wonder how many chinese girls in Malaysia participated this year. The results are rather disappointing. Neway, hope that the judges will be able to select the best among them.
Well ladies and gentlemen,
No matter what, don’t you think we shall give applause to these ladies who qualify themselves in one of the Malaysia/ Chinese countries recognition beauty pageant contest. If it is me, I would congrats these fellow ladies because the fact is they are the 10 finest participants of 2006. Standing right in-front the top hill view, I hope these ladies will take this chance as a great experiences and memories in the life and treasure valuable moment.
Well, although most of them are not photogenic but there are Ok in real life.
From my personal side, I am all-time vote no.6 and the reason is simple. She is a friend of mine and knows her in person.

Well, in this kind of pageant…as an audience or viewer, we are just looking at 1st impression or as frens, of coz we are bias. Realised a lot of the comments are really subjective.
I really feel each and everyone of them, have their pros and cons especially having seeing them the entire month at the academy.
Whom we expected to be, turns out to be different from what we wanted them to be.
Well, as anyone would say, don’t judge a book by its cover before you got the chance to see their real character.
But, in this competition, the judges for the nite would not be knowing them personally as I have (indirectly). It’s all based on first impression on the Final nite. How they carry themselves, how they talk….. etc etc etc…
Well, just wanna say, if any of the pageant is reading this ….
Best of Luck!! You all are already a champion, to be in the TOP 10. Just be yourself that nite and you would shine thru!!
P/S: For those who voted for themselves… just wanna say…. Astro have records of all the handphone number that have voted. So, even if you are in the Top 5 for that nite, do u think you would really be proud of it?

First of all, I would like to express my great appreciation to Sam’s hardwork. Thank you very much, Sam, for publishing the photos which are cut from the interview I had with Astro. I like those photos very much!! Thanks for keep advertising for me, I feel so touched!!
Secondly, I would like to thank Titoki, Che-cheh, Neo, Jennifer and the rest who have been supporting me. Your comments mean a lot to me, it gives me courages to walk through the competition confidently. No matter how the outcome will be, I will do my best. Why so wasted money in SMS voting, if she really good & beauty enough, sure can WIN right! Of cause I know, vote for someone u like is absolutely the right, but do think hundred and thousands of votes are too over for that? Do u guys really know the real meaning for voting? Like that, is like cheating audience who are watching the show. I’m not here to blame people or creating a disturbance. Maybe someone they are really rich, or maybe they are telecommunication service owner and shareholder. So, they don’t mind….

-she is a really english-shie type of girl, highly educated girl and serious looking too…

-a friendly and caring girl but quiet…

-she might be the best among those girls…she is selected as the ideal winner by the contestants…she has the looks,education and height…honestly,i hope she would be the winner(vote for ling)
5.josephine
-most probably she will be in the top 5…she is able to communicate brilliantly…
6.cally
-she’s a top 5 quality…quite pretty
7.rachel
-she’s a little bit quiet…and quite serious looking
8.novel
-she has a photogenic look but quite serious looking sometimes…

-she has the sisterly look in the pageant…she is an active girl who always jokes around…

here is my way of thinking, they all are the 10 finest finalist which mean they all already Champion.
Math Computation Theory:
If the top 5 SMS system is used thus the chances to be champion shall increase 10% to 20 %. Furthermore, chose 3 out of 10 persons. Damm, It is like betting on the odd 3:10 which I won’t take this unattractive risk. I would rather take more calculated risk. Be secure into top 5 to have about 60% to get into Top 3. This is my own Business Nature Dealing any deals. Again Justin Chow, before u can smell the Champion crown, better be sure these Finalists in the top 5 first beforehand the Champion thought. Do babies do learn running process 1st before learn walking process.
It is just a strategy to ensure victory into the top 5.

Do you think it is free or cheap to develop the system support for the voting system? It easily cost USD$2-15 grand depend on scale. If each finalist get 20k vote average. What is the math come up? 20 grand * 10 finalist = 200 grand *RM 0.50 = RM 100,000 assume each is 50 cent per vote. Those involvement will split among them those profit, remember assuming ignore all the OPEX, thus RM100,000 – System soft ware (Less than 10k for this scale)… Who get the profit, who donates the money, who is/are smiling?

Agreed to the SMS voting system. It hinders the really good ones to qualify if they dont enough budget or simply dont have a strong ‘wall’ to lean against. Voting system is already not a fair game when you see people suddenly jumping from the last few to the first few. How can this happen overnight? Imagine if there’s a pool of votes, the longer those votes accumulate, the harder it is to even try increasing 1% of one’s votes, but what happened is, even if it’s alr towards the end of competition (which means the vote pool should be quite big by now)results can just have a tremendous change overnight. What’s happening there? Hmm…Somebody dump a huge amount of votes into the pool to alter the result, refer to Economic Crisis 1997.
But still, i’d love to give No.5 Josephine some support. Although i’m not voting much (haha), but i’m still tempted to help her stay at the position. Way to go too No.8, I hope she hang in there.
Yeah, I support No. 5. I have been watching the programme from Astro, I feel she is the nicest looking girl. Although she has short hair, but she has got nice features!

Of coz i used my brain to explain my comment… Gosh.. The word of OPEX is the most basic word to those marketer n financial ppl. Further I did Assumption of Ignoring all expenses to show the SIMPLE mechanism of it to public just the general of Dummy understanding.
Peter Ong, R u just Standard 3. As well as another opinion for your improvement. Please read the word by word and sentence by sentence and make sure you understand each word and the weigh of the sentence i type off. Maybe now it doesn’t effect u much, but in future of any paper agreement, it might cost u down to $$ of law n solicitor.

Everybody, dont blame nuts on the photographer. All the contestants will look different with these kinds of photos. We all are smart enough to realise that. They have the heavy makeup and touch ups done. I agree, don’t judge a book by its cover. You want to know them better, check out their Friendster account. They are so them! I came across their account and realise this is the best way to judge them. You’ll realise how different they look. It’s pretty unfair to those that are not photogenic, but good for them with the photogenic look. Whatever the outcome is, they are all champions. If you think you are better than them, try entering.

hihi. I’m new here. I am from Sabah, Sandakan. Ya lor. It’s Novel. When watching the show, I was wondering whether Ling or Novel, Ling or Novel, Ling or Novel… but actually is NOVEL! Novel has a sweet smile and Ling is good in her “question and answer” session (maklum la, she’s a lawyer graduate) LOL. Well, I have viewed some of their friendsters… I find Ling had won Ms. Oriental blablabla….what’s that hah? Can anyone tell me something about it? OH YA! I was so frightened and shocked when Novel’s crown dropped!! Luckily didn’t broke into pieces… I straight away closed my eyes and dare not even look at it!! phew…Goey has a “tai ka jie” look! Love her too~ erm…what more to say eh….erm..erm..erm… I think tht’s all! Last but not least, I hope Novel will do well in the Miss Chinese International Pageant 2007 (probably held in Hong Kong?) Malaysia boleh! LOL
Oh yeah… I forgot to say….Well, I am a little bit disappointed and sad to see some of the girls go drunk and like to club in the night and I was wondering when Ling won the Miss Oriental… is that okay she join the Miss Astro again? hmm….and one more, when I saw Josephine’s picture Loreal colour look… I wondered again, is she a model or what? lol. Anyway, I found that many of the girls went to further studies in other countres. That’s a good thing. How i wonder I can go further studies too but i don’t think my parents can support me…..

In a sense of public, your statement really gives me a vision of a dim-witted person endeavor to elucidate a lame joke(s). One more superfluous thingy for your attentiveness, what is the affiliation sandwiched between the telecommunication with listed? Do you understand the idiom? I guess a dog don’t ever distinguish how to deal thingy what about business nature feel so @_@. Well, the SMS voting is twisted by MACIP with some Wireless Service provider to develop software for voting system. Telco, which is the telecommunication such as Maxis, Digi or Celcom, just a party circuitously involves due to the knowledge serving us. Maxis and Celcom chip-in 50% (thus it is 25cent for each MACIP voting, Gross Income per SMS for Telco) and the Service provider takes 12.5cent( Gross Income per SMS for Service Provider) and the MACIP takes the left over 12.5cent ( Gross Income per SMS for MACIP). For Digi, it owns 60% profit-sharing, the rest do your on math. I guess Dog don’t know to read or write or calculate, thus the best is get your master do it for you.

No 1 Clare did just ok that night. I think she could do better. Turns out she is just an ordinary girl with sweet smile and nice heart. She looks good at times and not at other time. Wonder which is her??? Too soft for such competition. She is one of my favourite though.
Frankly speaking, no 2 shine that night. I never notice her beauty before during that one month of unmasked diary, she did suprise me with her overall performance that night. Her body, wow! 34,23,34!!! wonder why didnt she get body beautiful. Maybe it’s her height. After hearing judges comments about her,I have pity for her as she is not photogenic to receive suficient sms to get her in top 5. But she should join other pageant such as Miss Malaysia as her ability to express in cantonese is insufficient as she is illiterate in chinese characters. She is so english. But she turns out to be one of my favourite that night, unexpectedly.
I thought No 4 Ling will be the winner that night. She has been doing very well all along. She can walk the walk and talk the talk. She is not a lawyer graduate yet. Still an undergrate. Can you all differenciate that? She is very good in Q&A session. That is her lawyer traits. Quick thinking! Good job!
However, Suprisingly Novel did a better performance compare to No 4 that night. I hope Novel will shine in Hong Kong next year.
What the hell is no 7 doing in top 5??!!! I think she must have invested alot in sms to get herself there. Sucks in answering questions. And her face… better not mentioned. She shouldnt feel proud of herself.
Same goes to no 3. Her so called opera, damm… my hair stood up! She have the height and intelligence but not the personality. She seems lack of attention. Tried too hard to perform herself, talked too much and all nonsense. Anyone notice her talking style? her head is tilted to a side and she is talking like a malfunction robot. First look, she is ok. The longer it gets, i have no comment… She should just have toned down a bit. That would make everything else better.
Others, they did what we have all expected. Anyhow, good job to all of them! They made that night a success. Good luck to them in the future.

The judges are blind and not up to standard to judge.

Do not get influenced by those who are not able to understand you girls. I think those who critique are dude as they themselves are not brave enough to participate or may be they are not even qualify to the finals. So …they jelous. Let it be, carry on your life.

To Meisi: You have the courage and many will admire you for that…. as for those who are NATOs…. they are just being jeolous of your acheivements.
If they can be better, they themself/ask their partners to join next year’s MACIP. Maybe the organisers would kick their back side before they even step in for audition… I will be the first to kick their butts!
After all, the viewers/voters have all fallen prey of the organisers… stupid ‘Asslo’.
Maybe not all of the 10 finalists did very well but all of them are good since they have the courage to join the competition.

Participated in the pageant was not only a matter of winning or losing…being complimented or criticised, but it was the experience that can’t be valued by money…you have proven to the others (especially those criticised you) who might not even have the chance to touch the stage….but you stood there gracefully and you managed to be the finalists…
I would like to take this opportunity to ask some advise from you…for the audition, how long did it take to complete?what have the organiser did to shortlist only 10 contestant out of thousands of applicants?I know the progress was not easy but how?by Q&A?self-introduction?games?talent?
Pls advise.
