Bukit Merah Laketown Resort
Oct 27th, 2006 by Neo
You may have been wondering where have I gone missing? Well, like most other people, I haven’t been updating because I have been on a long Deeparaya break. This time I took the opportunity to have a wonderful day at Bukit Merah Laketown Resort.
Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is well know for it’s waterpark, although I think it has other goodies to offer too such as Ecopark, and Orang Utan Island; but I have never visited all these goodies. I have been to the Waterpark once before and this was my second visit here. Not surprisingly, not many Malay visitors here as it’s still Hari Raya.

The entrance to the laketown. Nice weather in the afternoon, just after 1pm.
This is a happening place with various of activities, especially during a festive season. At one corner, we have some clowns playing some nift tricks. At another corner, there were some naughty children playing at a water fountain.

Clowns having fun.
Let’s move on to the main attraction of the park – the actual Waterpark.

Bukit Merah Laketown Waterpark.
Tickets are priced at RM21 for adult, and RM16 for children. If your height is below 90cm, then you are in luck, you get free entry!
Let’s check out some of the fun attractions there. This one is called the Giant Wet Bubble.

Giant Web Bubble.
Basically you hike to the top of the bubble with the help of a rope. Whoever gets to the top first has the advantage to shake the others off from the bubble… This is one of the major attractions there and a long queue is expected.

River Rides.
River rides, suitable for the young and the old. Usually you ride on a floating tube – which you can hire from the counter at RM10 a tube.

Speed Rides.
This one I think is a little too fast for me… I better find something not so thrilling. Ah, the activity pool should be nice

Activity pool, with a rain simulator.

Elephants.
Oh, looks like they have some elephants there too. Pretty cute.

Mushroom pool.
At about 3 or 3:30pm, it started to rain quite heavily, but this didn’t discourage us from having fun under the rain… hahaha. Anyway, check the picture above, see if you can see any naked girls?
Actually there are a whole lot of other interesting water activities you can enjoy here, including one of the most trilling one which I think I should show you a video of it.
Dare or not?
Since my digital camera is not water proof, I have to be real careful when taking pictures, and a lot of attractions are thus missed. These are such as the Monsoon Lagoon Wave Pool, and the kid’s water playground.
For those who are interested to get to Bukit Merah Laketown Resort, it’s pretty easy if you use the North-South Highway. Just make sure you don’t miss the Bukit Merah Lake Town exit. The journey to the park is approximately an hour from Ipoh, and 35 minutes from the Penang Bridge.

i had try the giant wet bubble and the speed rides (water slides). believe it or not, i love most the kiddies area. haha. i must be a very big kid then. i love the giant barrel which pours water on you! haha.
the ride you showed at the video, it was not there during the time i was there. but i had try similiar ride to this in the lost world of tambun, perak.
3 years back i was also at this resort but for a seminar. did not actually go inside the resort theme park but did took the cable car ride to get an aerial view of the resort.
Wuching,
Hahaha, I didn’t see the elephants’ KKC oh
Cely,
Oh, is it? But I haven’t got the opportunity to try Sunway Lagoon yet. Will go in the near future.
Lucia,
That sounds great. I have not been to the Lost World of Tambun. Must go there next time! The ride in the video looks too thrilling to me, you dare try it ah? Haha…
[...] After an afternoon of water fun at Bukit Merah Laketown Resort, we were totally exhausted. I was so tired that I couldn’t distinguish between my left hand from my left. [...]
[...] Take a look at this nice souvenir I bought at Bukit Merah Laketown Resort. It’s a nice magnet to add to my collection of magnets on my refrigerator. [...]
how to go to Bukit Merah if we go by bus? Anybody have the info please email me farizahb@yahoo.com.
Hello to anyone out there. I’m an American considering retiring to BuKit Merah. Sure would like to have a contact there of an ex pat who might answer a few questions that he/she probably had to also deal with when they considered moving to this very attractive place.
