Maybank2u Online Banking
Oct 30th, 2006 by Neo
I believe most of you are very familiar with Maybank2u already. This is especially true for Malaysians, as Maybank2u is the earliest bank to offer online banking through it’s online banking portal.
I really like the convenience of doing my banking needs online, without the need to drive to a Maybank branch. On top of banking services such as tranfering funds and checking account balance, they also provide the facility to pay for utilities online. For me, all my utilities are included such as Astro, water, electricity, telephone, and of course Streamyx.
However, a bit sad to say that all these good services are not provided for free. Don’t know from how long ago, they started to charge for RM12 a year; if I am not mistaken. I think this fee is reasonable as long as they do not go down as frequent as our beloved broadband Streamyx!

Maybank2u went down this morning!
However, on rare occassions, Maybank2u did go down… just like it did this morning. Luckily it didn’t go down for long, only for about 5 minutes I guess.
Anyway, do you use Maybank2u for your banking needs? Or are you using some other online banking facilities provided by another bank? I especially interested to know how you pay your monthly utilities, whether you queue up at the Post Office or use some auto-debit facility.

I have an easier alternative. I married an accountant who takes care of everything. Hehehe. But ya, I do receive payments through Maybank2u but we prefer to make payments via atm ‘cos my walking atm doesn’t trust their online transaction. For utilities, he usually pay in advance. Like management fees (apartment), telephone, water and electricity, he put in a couple of thousand/hundred RM and let them minus each mth.
Lilian,
I have been using Maybank2u to pay for the utilities for many months now. So far so good, no problem at all.
You are so lucky to have a walking ATM who has a few thousands extra.
Share with me tips on how to get a few thousands extra every month please. Thanks.
I’m so sticked with Maybank2u now haha. Every type of payment, I will opt for Maybank2u if possible - paying credit card, loan, buying prepaid cards for gf, transfer fund, paying friend’s present…. all online.
No choice la, working from Mon to Fri, and don’t want to have my sweet Saturday spending with banking matters. Moreover, not every bank is operating on Sat
I don’t use Maybank. I pay my Astro via direct debit. Pay my cc/loan via the old fashion way: cheque -> snail mail. But I’ll opt for online banking next time after I have run out of cheque. Save cheque book + stamps money..hahaha
how many banks in malaysia offer online banking? here they all do it!
Actually most of the major banking institutions in Malaysia are now offering online banking facilities. Beside Maybank, other banks like Public Bank, CIMB (formerly Bumiputra Commerce), HSBC, Hong Leong Bank… all offering online facilities. The difference is to which extend the functionalities are.
Che-Cheh,
Don’t forget that Maybank2u charges most interbank transactions at RM2 per transactions. For example hire purchase and loan payments to another bank. But if your loan is on daily interest, then perhaps you can save a little on the interest because the fund will arrive faster.
Anyway, even Maybank2u still do not have hire purchase and loan payment facility to a lot other banks. As far as I know, not to Southern Bank, Alliance Bank, and UOB.
I try to charge / autodebit most of the bills to credit card. got points mah. then pay the card. if you want free cheques, Alliance Bank has it.(yes, u don’t even need to pay the stamp fees, some more got interest)
maybank2u is my everything..car loan, house loan, credit card, electricity, telephone bill, streamyx, all i paid thru maybank2u..And mayb ptptn also..hehe
i used public bank to pay bills. quite good the site. no charge for using internet banking.
Eeeee.. got charge meh? I didn’t know…I don’t use it to pay bills
I only use it to transfer money to friends and vice versa or Ebay. So it’s really true that they charge RM1 per month as spread by some popele last time, I thought it’s just rumour.
can you give me the Branch code, Swift Code, Branch Name and Bank Address for transfer fund for international transfer fund? i want to transfer from overseas transfer to my account bank in sabah. TQ
