Ipoh Wedding Dinner
Dec 4th, 2006 by Neo
This is a delayed post, which happened about 2 weeks ago. My friends and I went to this restaurant in Ipoh for a friend’s wedding dinner. Since we all are not very familiar with Ipoh, we had to make a few wrong turns and a few emergency phone calls although we did prepare a detailed map with the guidance of an Ipoh guide. Nevertheless, we reached the restaurant slightly behind schedule but luckily parking was ample.
Went inside the restaurant, were surprised to see that not many guests had arrived. We were the early bunch! Hahaha… so, we get to choose a strategically located table for the night, with good view of the stage.
What’s interesting about this restaurant is that it’s converted from an old cinema. Yes, the building was a cinema some years ago, but as with many other traditionally-run cinemas, this one was closed down and converted into a spacious restaurant, with a big stage!

Florex Restaurant.
Look at the spacious restaurant. I believe they can fit in 80 or 90 tables easily. This eagle view picture was taken from the 1st floor of the cinema. I believe the movie tickets for the then 1st floor seatings were more expensive also

Does this look like a cinema to you? Nothing like today’s THX 3D surround sound cinema, but I am sure it brings back some old good memories!
Food was served pretty early, not like in KL where food will usually be served after 2 or more hours delay. Blame that on KL people’s culture.

This is what we all came here for. Good food! Wow, such a big and elaborately decoreated dish, come come help yourself! I love that “fabut” in the middle. Yummy!

Roast chicken. Help yourself on this one too, don’t let me eat it all by myself

Prawns. Very nice and I love prawns, who doesn’t? But I hate doing the shells myself. Haha.

Of course there were more dishes being served, and they were all very nice. The final dish was the dessert. Very sweet, especially you get to peek at the pretty girl there. Trust me, she looks better in person than in the photo, ah… I need to practise how to use my hidden camera
Anyway, let’s take a look at the performance on the stage too.

This lady is a very good singer. She sang a couple of songs and one of them was a popular Chinese called “老鼠爱大米”.
Now, you have enjoyed the food and also the performance on the stage. I think it will only do justice, if we pay respect to our hosts for the night. There you are, the bride and the bridegroom.

A big congratulations to both of them! Next year we shall have another dinner together to celebrate the full moon of their new born!

Moses Francis,
It’s a nice and spacious restaurant.
Wuching,
I am too shy to do that! Haha.
Hey not a bad place ya. Really cool in fact!
Che-Cheh,
The best thing about this place is that it really has plenty of space! Easy to move around as it will never get crowded unless you put 100 tables there.
