Visit Malaysia Year 2007 is here! Year 2007 is Visit Malaysia Year! This time, it’s the third edition of Visit Malaysia Year, successive to year 1990 and 1994. Year 2007 is considered very special because it coincides with Malaysia’s 50th year of independence!

Anyway, please don’t ask me what are the exciting events we have in store because I am not from Tourism Malaysia. But, I do heard that they have some 50 plus events in line, which you can read more details here. Funny thing is why the site is in IP Address? Tourism Malaysia has no money to register a domain name is it?

I am a Malaysian, and I do support the government’s initiative to attract more tourists and get more dollar from the tourism industry. But, there are some reports which surely are not very encouraging, such as this one:

“I was walking in Chinatown, when a gentleman in very scruffy type clothes, nothing that you would associate with police or anyone in authority, walked up to me and asked me, “Can I see your passport?”.”

“At that point he essentially lunged at me, grabbed me, put handcuffs on me really tightly and called for a few other people out in the crowd.”
