Hakkakaya Old Pasar Road Cafe at 1Utama

I think it has been a long time since I last posted food in my blog. Okie, this time allow me to show you what I had for dinner some time ago at this cafe in 1Utama, TCK 1920 Hakkakaya; Old Pasar Road Cafe - such a weird long name, right? Name aside, the cafe is located on the LG floor, next to Kenny Rogers and opposite of the Arena Food Court! You can definitely spot it easily!

The ambience of the cafe is quite nice as you can see in the picture above. What you see are the dining area inside of the cafe, but if you are more adventurous you can choose to have your meal outside in front of the cafe.

Anyway, what’s this thing about 1920?. My guess is that TCK (the founder of the cafe) had his original coffee shop in Old Pasar Road (Pudu?) in the year 1920. His coffee was so popular that he earned tonnes of money and went more upmarket and opened this eatery in One Utama. Nice story?

I had this nasi rendang with TCK special recipe. It tasted average, and a little too dry for my liking.

This is some kind of laksa which my girl had. I think she kind of liked this. The soup had enough ingredients to it which made it quite palatable to the taste.

This is sarsi leong fun which is quite an interesting blend of sarsi and leong fun.
Now that we are done with the food, let me show you this high-tech gadget they are using in the cafe. Have you seen anything like this before? - Wireless call system!

Here, you don’t blow your whistle to get the attention of the waiter or waitress like what you do at a mamak stall. Instead you lift a finger and press a button on the wireless call system device on the table, and your call will be received by a receiver which is wore by all the waiters and waitresses. Their device looks similar to a pager and has a small screen that tells your table number and which button you have just pressed; whether you are asking for bill, water or others.

That’s the wireless access point which receives and transmits your messages. Shown on the screen is your table number.
Overall, I would say this cafe is just another average cafe which serves average food. You come here if you would like to press-press on the wireless call system, otherwise can have your money better spent elsewhere.

I’ve been there once sometime ago before they had the wireless ordering thingy..
The food’s terrible.. most of the stuff comes pre-prepared and is heated up with a microwave oven near the counter!
looks nice, lets have coffee there..
Wow never seen a restaurant that is so techno savvy…hahaha If I may call it that way.
