Largest Ancient Coin Replica at IOI Mall
Feb 16th, 2007 by Neo
Look what I found today! The largest ancient Chinese coin replica in the whole of Malaysia is found at IOI Mall, Puchong. No joke, I was kind of shocked to see this myself at first too… but after a short while I couldn’t help myself but to take some photos so that I can show you here.

Let’s review some trivial history first. According to history, the Ancient Chinese coin was commissioned by Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor. It was the first unified currency used by the Chinese until the end of Qing Dynasty, about 1,800 years later.
The coin’s circular-shape is made unique with a square hole in its center, signifying heaven and earth. More than just monetary value, the coin was a symbol of luck and was associated with a “magnet” of abundant wealth, money and prosperity. These days, the coin is displayed as part of the auspicious decorations of the Chinese New Year.

This year, IOI Mall is proud to display this symbol of luck at a gigantic proportions. The large coin measuring 7.31 meters in diameter, was endorsed by The Malaysia Book Of Records on the 23 January 2007 as the largest in Malaysia! See the Records staff recording the dimensions of the giant sculpture.
So, that’s about it at IOI Mall this year… the decoration is pretty simple, other than the giant coin replica, the other notable decoration has to be these lanterns hanging from the center roof. Quite pathetic, haha.

Before I sign off today, I think it’s not too early to wish all my readers who celebrate CNY a very Happy Chinese New Year! May the pig bring you lots of prosperity and happiness!

Adam OK,
I think a couple of thousand would be enough. Of course depending on the material, but of course not real gold or expensive material!

You need to buy it from IOI Mall then. Contact them for arrangement.
