Gateway to Sibu

You have seen and visited Wisma Sanyan, I am sure you are amazed and wish to visit more places of interest in Sibu. Sibu Gateway is another place which you must visit if you are in Sibu.
Sibu Gateway is a marvellously done park located at the junction of Pedada Road and Kampung Nyabor Road which are two of the busiest roads in the bustling Sibu town. The SMC (Sibu Municipal Council) who developed this project is smart in choosing this location as everybody who comes to Sibu will never miss this “gateway”.

It was in the evening when I visited so I tried using night mode, but the result was terrible as I didn’t have my tripod with me. The photos turned out to be better when I used the normal mode.

This picture looks out to one of the busiest street in Sibu. Got two models posing for me, but they might be bloggers also as I noticed they were busy checking pictures they have just took.
At the other end of the Sibu Gateway is a park known as Lin’s Swan Garden which houses the twelve Chinese zodiac animals, as well as some beautifully done swans.

That’s the horse. For the benefit of the uninitiated, the 12 animals are: 鼠 Rat or Mouse, 牛 Ox or Cow, 虎 Tiger, 兔 Rabbit or Hare, 龍 Dragon, 蛇 Snake, 馬 Horse, 羊 Sheep or Goat, 猴 Monkey, 雞 Rooster or Chicken or Phoenix, 狗 Dog, and 豬 Pig or Boar.

Year of the snake! I know many of you may not like to be born in the snake year. But the person born in the year of snake is perhaps the wisest and most enigmatic of all. He/she can become a philosopher, a theologian, a political wizard or a wily financier. Just look at some famous people who are born in the snake year: Alex Ferguson - Scottish football manager, Alexander Fleming - inventor of penicillin, Muhammad Ali - American boxer, and Martha Stewart - American television and magazine personality.

In the swan garden, as expected there are many swan statues! Do you know that swan is Sibu’s official mascot?

Swan has been adopted as the mascot to symbolise Sibu’s pace of development over time. The biggest swan in the center of the park is positioned to face South which symbolises peace and prosperity for the Sibu people.
Both the Sibu Gateway and the Lin’s Swan Garden are undeniably very beautifully done. Do visit these two places if you have the time.
