Bukit Lima Forest Park
Mar 24th, 2007 by Neo
When you are completely lost in Sibu, you just follow where the famous bloggers went as it could never be wrong. I followed the Longkang Bengbeng and Wuching to Sarawak’s largest forest park, the Bukit Lima Forest Park.

Although the park was officially opened in 2001 but it’s still not known to a lot of people in Sibu itself I think because there wasn’t a single soul when we were there the other day. If not because of Wuching and Bengbeng I don’t think I will ever know the existence of the forest park.

We were so lonely, how come nobody was there lar?! Where was everybody?… maybe because of the scorching hot sun, should have came in the evening when I believe tonnes of people will come to enjoy jogging here.

However, the moment you stepped inside the forest, it’s awesome! Very cooling and refreshing. That’s truly a natural rain forest.

Someone told me the plankwalk is more than 3 kilometers long and it will take you up to 1 hour to walk to the other end. There’s no turning back once you are deep inside the forest… It’s pretty scary to venture too deep inside, who knows if we get mugged in there. Haha…

It didn’t take us long to locate this wild fern, a very popular culinary dish among Sarawakians. Some people call this the milin, bilin, midin or bidin. So many confusing names, but basically they refer to this same yummy vegetable which you can only find in Sarawak!
If I import some to KL, do you think laku or not?
Since we didn’t go very deep inside, we concluded the visit and went to the nearby Farley supermarket for a walk and lunch. Thanks to Wuching and Bengbeng for showing us the park!

Wuching,
You should tell me earlier ma… When can we go to the park again?
i want to go too, the place is rather isolated la, because need to go thru lots of lanes just to get there. it’s packed around 5pm usually. i never go in there, just outside.
So is there anything interesting to do around the place? I might want to go there one day. I live in Kuching and never heard about this place before… looks like a place called stutong nature reserve here in Kuching. Tell me more, can we have more pics??
Does tourist go there for recreation purposes?
How far from Sibu if driving?
cyber_junkie,
You can have a walk into the jungle, see and enjoy the nature and the clean air. Just relax and listen to birds. Play in the playground…
Apart from them nothing much else.
Driving from the Sibu town should take about 15 minutes I guess.
