Buddhist Culture and Arts Festival @ Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre
Jun 11th, 2007 by Neo
A friend told me there was a great exhibition going on at Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre, located in the Mines Resort City, Seri Kembangan. She said the exhibition was the largest Buddhist arts and culture festival in Malaysia. I got interested and I immediately decided I should go when she mentioned it will be a great opportunity to take pictures and at the same time understand and appreciate Buddhism more.

When I reached there with another friend, we were surprised to find that it’s free entrance. That’s obviously good. Crowd was moderate and it was easy to move around, checking the exhibits.

What a big wishing well. Can we cast coins in there and wish for health, world peace, wealth and a more handsome me?

Great to enjoy the artworks with your loved ones.

Do you know what the Chinese writing in the picture above mean?

The birds are so lively and real!
I was surprised to see so many great calligraphy, Chinese paintings and other art exhibits. All of them were so engaging that I spent almost 2 hours in this section alone.

Approximately 84,000 lotus buds were used to make this giant Buddha Footprint. The figure 84,000 is said to be symbolic to the 84,000 teachings of Buddhism.
Lotus is one of the most poignant representations of Buddhist teaching. White lotus represents the state of spiritual perfection and total mental purity. Pink lotus is the supreme lotus, generally reserved for the highest deity. Thus naturally it is associated with the Great Buddha himself.

If you are interested to visit this event yourself, don’t bother because it ended yesterday. But the tour I brought you here is next good to visiting it.
By the way, Rafael Nadal won the Mens Singles in French Open 2007. The match between him and World Number 1 Roger Federer was awesome. I was writing this post while watching the match on TV. It’s a bit distracting but I had to multi-task because I couldn’t afford to miss witnessing the clash between the top 2 world’s best tennis players! Congratulations, Nadal. Federer, try again next year!
