Malaysia Web Hosting for bloggers, RM250 discount
Jun 18th, 2007 by Neo
Today, let’s talk about web hosting and domain name registration for your blogging needs. Unless you have just started out trying how it’s like blogging on Blogger.com or Wordpress.com which are two of the most widely use free blogging platform, you will need to pay to get your own hosted blog. I am sure most of you who are serious in blogging, will want to have your own domain name, it looks more professional and you will get more opportunities in doing sponsored posts as more and more advertisers are only interested in professional looking domains. Some even avoid advertising on blogspot and wordpress.com.

So, which web hosting company do you think is worth trying? For me, Exabytes is the first name that pops up if you ask me that question. They are pretty aggressive in advertising, you can see their ads on a lot of websites and print media. For a company who is willing to spend so much in advertising, you know for sure they are not a fly by night business. In fact they have been around for at least five years.
My blog Hot-screensaver.com is hosted in the US. I am sure you don’t need me to tell you which hosting company that’s… Some readers from Malaysia especially, may find the blog a little slow sometimes. Can’t help it, the server is so far away… Just be patient… I am actually thinking of moving to Exabytes. All because I have you, readers from Malaysia! I am thinking if I should take up the offers from the Nuffnang and Exabytes tie-up, which gives discount as high as RM250 off! See details below:

Don’t waste your money. Even with the coupon discount the Semi-D plan is still expensive. You may as well host with DataKL and pay only RM130 per year.
- MENJ
DataKL? Haven’t heard about them much, how are they? Are they good? Server reliable?
Lots of thing count.
Uptime - 99.9% ???
Speed - how many account per server ?
Bandwidth per month?
Access / Control Panel / Telnet ?
Email / FTP
Sub domain - how easy to control the DNS ?
And many more.
You need all these to be pro and the top one is the utmost important where Malaysian hosting failed to deliver. 99.5% may be.
International speed is due to TM nuts and not the distance.
my 2 cents.
Hmm no idea wor. I use host server in US too.
Do you think my blog is slow in loading? or fast? or reasonably fast considering the server is in the US?
Neo,
So far I think it is ok. Our internal broadband routing internal to Malaysia also some time have problem. Slow corporate network make it worse.
Some company only has 1Mb or 2Mb for the everybody to use. My previous company in Tech Park Bukit Jalil has that problem, despite the fact that Bukit Jalil is actually on international backbone.
So many factors. I don’t want to under estimate local company but I do support local when ever I can. Somehow, I also have a very high expectation.
I am on godaddy. So far the speed and service is good but off course more expensive. I have 7 domain on one virtual server. Only use 450GB) under utilised.
Its your choice but consider many factors. About 70% of my readers are internationals.
Yours maybe different.
my 2 cents.
mattsofi,
Glad to know my blog is still OK in loading speed. But I am aware that there are times when the speed is so slow you would like to close it and stay from it. That’s why sometimes I have the urge to move to another hosting provider.
Anyway, moving is not an easy task…
i’m not sure about u. i’m moving away from exabytes after this hosting year is over.
too many downtime for me with exabytes. almost everyday at least one time will be down.
i have already moved my domain name on to another local company. u can always try shinjiru
it is cheaper than exabytes without coupon too
