PROTON-BWF World Badminton Championships 2007
Jul 11th, 2007 by Neo
PROTON-BWF World Championships 2007 is the latest and hottest badminton tournament of the year, it is coming to Kuala Lumpur on 13-19 August this year. Do mark these dates on your busy calendar as this is the only chance you get to see all the world class players meet and compete against each other. I am not sure if this is the first ever BWF World Badminton Championships in Malaysia, but I do remember last year the game was played in Madrid. Our shuttlers Koo Kien Keat and Wong Pei Tty won a bronze medal as they lost to Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg in the semi-finals.

Needless to say, I am going to book a few tickets to this world class event. I got the booking forms from Michael’s Badminton Academy… yes according to Mr Michael you have to book the tickets first and get them latter. A little inconvenience. Anyway, the ticket prices vary according to the type and location of seating, which range from RM18 to RM376!

RM18 is for the upper tier free seating of the preliminary rounds. If you bought the most expensive ticket, RM376, you get to go to the championship and shake hand with Lee Chong Wei throughout the week-long event. You will also get a special numbered seat at the lower North/South area which is very near to the courts.
So, which type of ticket should I book?

[...] I have finally got the tickets to go watch Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei, Zhang Ning, Xie Xing Fang, Wong Mew Choo and all the other world class players at the upcoming PROTON-BWF World Badminton Championships 2007. I want to see all of them… so many of them. If not for these big names whom I have always admired, I definitely won’t part with my hard earned RM216. But on second thought, these are the best players we only get to see on TV, and this will be the only chance we can see them up close from a near distance… you bet, that’s the best and most expensive ticket, so I hope it’s really close that I can reach out for their autograph… Oh, how I wish Wong Mew Choo can blow a flying kiss to us if she won the womens singles.
