Phuket seafood - clean and delicious
Jul 13th, 2007 by Neo
Just when you thought we are back from our Phuket holiday, you are wrong. We are still there, this time let us bring you to this road side restaurant that serves awesome seafood. This place is just a stone’s throw from our hotel, so it’s really convenient for us and since the dishes are very reasonably priced and delicious, we frequent them many times! Not to mention the owner is really nice and friendly. Perhaps that’s the reason our female tour mates want to come here every time we talk about food.

That’s the restaurant. Doesn’t look very clean to you? Don’t worry, look at the restaurant’s name: OK Thai Seafood, and it’s Number One Cooking, Delicious and Clean.

Now, let’s get down to business. Don’t forget we are here to eat. Choose the best fish, prawns, and crabs. They are all fresh and clean.

These must be pretty pricey. We dare not try these as they might blow holes in our pockets, then no money to go to watch Thai Girls. One Thai Girls show costs 300 baht.

While we were waiting, my friends bought this mango glutinous rice from a stall nearby. According to her, this is very famous in Thailand. I savored it and immediately agreed that it’s very tasty. Sweet and very fragrant.

Our carefully selected sea food were served before us soon after. We didn’t have to wait too long as it was still early and there weren’t many customers. We had our dinner early because we had tonnes of activities after that!

Those were the prawns you saw earlier. Now they were served before us. Yummy…

Sotong.

Bread? Who ordered this? We came here for seafood, not for bread lar… if you wanted to have bread, next morning I am sure you can have unlimited bread at the hotel’s breakfast.

Another prawn dish.

To help with our stomach digestion, we had some mixed vegetables too. Our observation is that Thailand people usually cannot cook vegetables well. Usually they are too watery, and… aiyah, just doesn’t taste good.

Please say “Hi” to the restaurant owner, Ah Chai (left in the picture above). He’s from Bangkok and according to him when he was working in Taiwan years ago, he learned about cooking all these nice dishes. The older gentleman is a nice guy we met at the restaurant. He is a good friend of Ah Chai and every time he stays in Phuket he will come to see Ah Chai, drink, eat and talk nonsense with him. Now, he owns a small hotel in Phuket… too bad I forgot what’s the name of the hotel otherwise next time we could have a free stay there. He is very chatty although his Switzerland slang make his words pretty difficult to catch sometimes.

I think he likes us very much as he treated us to a bottle of Thai Red Wine. He even invited us to his hotel for tea and coffee afterwards but we had to decline nicely as we had better plans for the night. Thanks brother!
