KLCC Aquaria - An Ocean of Discovery
Jul 21st, 2007 by Neo
Last weekend, it just so happened that I was in Suria KLCC meeting up with a friend and after some window shopping and tea, we decided to go for an underwater discovery. Where else could that be other than KLCC Aquaria? Haha, in fact I explored that place before. Searching in the archive reveals that the last time I went to KLCC Aquaria was close to two years ago, so no wonder there was quite a few new sea creatures this time.

Anyway, to go from Suria KLCC (the shopping center) to KL Convention Center where the Aquaria is located, we need to go through a 500 meter passageway which is OK. But after that passageway is a long stuffy car park which is not air-conned. I wonder why they couldn’t connect the nice passageway directly with the convention center building?

The ticket costed us RM28 each, luckily we are MyKad holders otherwise we have to pay RM38 each. But what I didn’t know and only found out just now is that Aquaria will give a RM2 discount (or 10% for family package) if you print out a voucher from their website. So, no discount this time… money wasted.
Let’s check out some photos I took. Surprisingly everybody were taking photos using the flash (as the place is a little dark). I thought last time they didn’t allow flash because that might scare the sea creatures. Who knows what disaster will happen if the shark get scared!?

Some visitors checking out some starfish happily, especially the children. You are allowed to touch and feel them in the open pond. They even provide photography service here, of course at a small cost lar.

Have you seen a sea turtle before? No, then head over to KLCC Aquaria.

Preserved specimens of sea turtle hatchings. Anybody can explain that to me please?
This place is not all about fish and sea kingdom. They have some weird and never seen before living things on display too. Look at this Common Marmoset.

Common Marmoset is definitely not common in Malaysia as they are widely distributed in the tropical forests in Eastern Brazil. Kudos to Aquaria for bringing them here for us.

A hugh cylinder aquarium with hundreds of fish inside. Nice view and get up close with the fishes.

I don’t want to scare you. But really, these two fishes are close to 2 meters long. Want to have barbecue fish for dinner tonight?

Next we reached the underwater tunnel which is about 90 meters long. There are more than 3,000 sea creatures of various shapes and sizes living harmoniously in this simulated natural habitat. There’s even a hidden shipwreck colonized by inquisitive reef inhabitants.

This time we were lucky to see a worker feeding the marine creatures. He waved at us. Too bad we didn’t see any bikini girls inside. Haha…

Colorful fishes.

Aiyah, what do you call these soft-soft sea creatures?

[...] I parked my car at KLCC (the shopping center) and headed my way over to the PC Fair venue through the covered walkway which you should have read about in my Aquaria adventure. I could see hundreds of people coming from the opposite direction carrying hugh amounts of preys from the fair. Some even needed the help of a trolley to ferry the gadgets they bought. Half of the population of the city was here! Soon after, I reached the my destination and sure enough the crowded was overwhelming! It was so crowded that I could hardly breathe, the air was basically so humid and uncomfortable. [...]
