French Village, Bukit Tinggi
Aug 5th, 2007 by Neo
It’s time to continue our journey in Bukit Tinggi. Our next stop will be the famous French Village which is also widely known as Colmar Tropicale. All buildings in this place are built to resemble those from a north-eastern village in France dating back to the 16th Century. It’s just like a picture postcard. You can’t find another place like this in Malaysia. This French themed resort was opened in July 2000.

Beautiful, isn’t it? How come our houses are not built like this? Guess we need to ask the developers who want to save building cost.
Anyway, at the entrance a beautiful clock tower welcomed us. Immediately I climbed up to the highest point possible where I could view the whole area. Too bad I was too excited until I forgot to shoot some pictures to share the picturesque view with you. The whole place is built on cobblestone ground which make the place really outstanding.

There is a water fountain and some park benches in the village for relaxation after a hard day’s work browsing in the shops. Mostly they are souvenir shops and restaurants. There is also a performance stage.

I don’t know I was lucky or not. I was totally caught by surprise because there was a very energetic dance performance on the stage. The music was really loud and strong too. Before long I realized they are members of a group known as the Black Cat. Not too sure whether they are famous but their performances were captivating. Have you saw their performance before or know anything about them?

This Black Cat is not the the sixth single by pop music singer Janet Jackson from her album Rhythm Nation 1814, which is also named Black Cat.
If you were looking for a bite here, there are plenty of restaurants for you to choose from but unluckily all of them look pretty expensive. From the look of them, I believe they all serve western cuisine and they can’t be cheap. The restaurant I tried is called La Flamme which specializes in pizza and pasta. I must say it’s very expensive and the pizza is just average.

It looks average, tastes average, but the price is above average. Anyway, we had our food outside at the open area and the great atmosphere more or less made up the average pizza.
Okay, let’s end our trip today with a high-powered dance performance. Do check it out.

So is this village just built for tourism?
I went to bukit tinggi last year with some friends. Terribly dissapointing. Nothing much there.
been there when I was very young. Probably 10 years back. It was a very beautiful place. I thought I went overseas or something. I stayed over for a night there and at night, you can actually walk around those places although they are very dark already. A nice place to get away from traffic jams. I wish to go back there again and to see it again since it has been a long long time.
Yung,
Good idea. In fact I seen some visitors really packed KFC up there.
Jam,
Eiffel Tower is in Paris.
Simple American,
Yes, it is.
The Malaysian Life,
Just a simple place to relax. True nothing much there. Not very happening.
Ping Ping,
Glad you enjoyed yourself there.
