Taman Metropolitan Kepong
Aug 10th, 2007 by Neo
On my way back from Bukit Tinggi I drove towards Kepong and passed by a place where there were hundreds if not thousands of kites flying gracefully in the afternoon sky. It was just beside the highway, and I could see there were rows of cars even parked at the shoulder of the highway. My curiosity got the better of me and I immediately made a turn to investigate. I realized it’s a park but I had not a single idea yet what it’s called then. But I immensely regretted to turn in because I could see that the place was jam packed, and cars were parked like sardines. I had to make at least five rounds before I managed to snatch a parking space.
It’s now time to check out this happening park.

Not surprisingly, there were many peddlers selling all sorts of kites right in front of the park. They were of a variety of creative and beautiful shapes, colors and sizes. Some were as big as a grown up man! I wonder how would you get such a hugh one into the sky! Do you have to run as fast as a horse? You know, I have never fly a kite before… so sorry for my ignorance.

Such a scenic skyline colored by the various kinds of kites. Each one of them trying to outmaneuver the rest to fly higher and higher.
Anyway, for the sake of blogging I had to find out what’s the name of this place. I asked a pretty gal who was having fun walking on the pebble stone path. Oh… only now I realized this place is Taman Metropolitan Kepong! A search on Google reveals that this urban park is as hugh as 117 hectares! How many times can you jog from one end to the other?

Above is the pebble stone path. The pretty gal isn’t in view. I believe she must have very sensitive feet looking at her expression on the pebbles.

There is a broad variety of recreational facilities here. No recreational park is complete without a children playground.

One final look at the busy sky before we bid fareway and continued our journey home after a real tiring day at Bukit Tinggi and a couple of hours at Taman Metropolitan Kepong.
This place is worth checking out especially during the kite season now. You can come here to show off your kite flying skills, or if you are not into this you can still have lots of good moments with the other activities; jogging, playing with your kids in the playground, treat your feet to a good walk on the pebble stone path, take photos of the scenic sky, playing badminton, and etc… I am sure you are more creative than me.

Never seen a kite. Wow! Any kite fighting going on. That is where they put blades on the strings and you win when you cut the string on the other kite.
