Dry Bakuteh at Seri Kembangan
Oct 23rd, 2007 by Neo
I believe we all tried bakuteh before, but not many of you have heard of dry bak kut teh not to mention trying it! Am I right? I was introduced to dry bak kut teh, which is available at a simple coffee shop in Taman Equine, Seri Kembangan. According to my friend, it’s very popular among the locals and even people from far come to savor it.
Reached the place at about 2:30pm, perhaps it was after lunch hours so it’s a little quiet and empty. Thus our orders were served reasonably fast.

That’s the dish we came all the way for. Dry bakuteh, I admit the picture doesn’t look very tempting. Actually, it tasted weird too. I admit too I didn’t quite like the taste. No wonder, there were not many other patrons… perhaps not because of the weird hours but they are not that great anyway.

That’s the ordinary bak kut teh. Not very big, just nice for the two of us. The herbs and spices broth tasted absolutely great and went pretty well with my bowl of rice.
The regretful thing was that they didn’t have any other dishes other than bak kut teh because their chef wasn’t around at that hours. Not even deep fried bread stick which is almost always eaten with bak kut teh. Too disappointed can die! They said all these will be available in the evening….

The coffee shop’s environment was simple and nothing too fancy. Notice that gas tank and heating stove above it? A few were placed around the shop for the convenience of the patrons. You use them for your self-service Chinese tea.

If you were interested to try this place, I suggest you come in the evening. Never come in the afternoon, my bad experience above tells why. This place is located at one of the end shop lot opposite of Taman Equine Jusco. Not too difficult to locate if you knew where is Taman Equine Jusco, the only AEON Jusco in Seri Kembangan.

Never try a dry one before. Will definitely try the next time I am in KL.
I don’t really like bak kut teh. They’re oily and high in cholesterol
