Zoo Negara

I believe you have read a lot about the Google PageRank update since a couple of weeks ago until now… Unfortunately, I am one of the victim of this round of special update. Some people say it’s a penalty for doing paid links. My blog’s PR went from PR6 to PR4. How motivating can that be! Anyway, perhaps we can talk more about this at another time, and right now let’s enjoy a relaxing tour to Zoo Negara, Malaysia’s first national zoo! Worry not, you don’t need to pay for the RM15 entrance fee, you just follow me. Hold on tight!

We woke up early and planned to go early in the morning but somehow got there late. Just in case you are not from Malaysia, Zoo Negara is located in Hulu Kelang (you should pass by this place on your way up to Genting Highlands) about 13km from Kuala Lumpur.
When we reached there, it was already near to noon. But the weather was a little gloomy, perhaps just nice for a zoo visit. I hate walking under a scorching hot sun!
Let’s forget about all the boring stuff and check out all the interesting animals from all over the world. First what greeted us was this Photo Corner.

Aiyah… they wanted nothing but money lor. You need to pay them in order to take a photo with a donkey. Brother, I have my own camera and I can take unlimited number of photos with real horses OK. So, let’s move on.

Next there were giraffes and of course the elephants.

There were bananas for sale at a corner. You can purchase them for the elephants. The children were happily feeding the elephants with the bananas.
I know you are tired. Doesn’t matter, you can just sit and relax while I show you some of the animals which include but not limited to birds, fish, mammals and reptiles.

Big bird. No good because it didn’t greet us!

Smart bird. Why? Because it greeted us and called me handsome! Hahaha…

This is not any ordinary deer. This is Axis Deer, imported all the way from Sri Lanka, so says the explanation board.

Tiger. They were kept at a safe distance from the visitors separated by a stream and a fence structure. Last but not least, let’s say “hi” to the King of the Jungle, the LIONS!

I myself is tired with all these photos now. Let’s take a break and continue later. Stay tuned for more exciting animals from the biggest zoo in Malaysia!

Been there once more than 10 years ago. And now still dun have giant pandas. ~sigh~
Zoo Melaka is another good choice.:)
Omg I’ve not gone to the zoo for many, many years!!
P/s: My PR on the other hand, went up to PR4…
Ahhh you make me miss zoo negara. :((
Childhooooooooddddddd arggghh I miss my childhooooodddddd.
Believe me.. I have never been to Zoo Negara before…
I should bring my little sister there one day !
that big bird is an emu, a native Australian flightless bird
Jam,
You want to see giant pandas, have to go to China.
Maxx,
What’s there in Zoo Melaka?
Narrowband,
Congrats on your PR! Mine dropped!
Che-Cheh,
Let’s go there again someday!
Keeyit,
Do visit Zoo Negara someday, it’s worth it. Quite fun.
Wuching,
Oh, indeed they have animals from around the world, except giant pandas. By flightless you mean cannot fly, is it?
Haha… you should shout loudly for Princess Eileen, maybe I can hear you. I stay very near the zoo… Muahahaha… I went to the Zoo during Hari Raya, I wrote my outings in my blog too. Hehehe… bring back a lot of memories hor
Zoo Negara has been on my Place 2 Go List for the last 5 years. The reality is that National Geographic & Animal Planet have taken priority. Malaysians are generally more interested in shopping centers and as a result places like Zoo Negara is low on the family outing list. Sadly 1utama and Mid Valley Megamall would be more reflective of the consumerism and social culture in Malaysia.
PS. The tiger looks pretty skinny. Can the zoo afford the 50kg of meat required daily?
How about Zoo Negara plant some animals in the 1 Utama tropical rainforest? That way Malaysians get to enjoy the best of both worlds. Instead of Gardens at Mid Valley they should have built Pet World Megamall… put in some chimps & pythons and it would really make my day!
[…] I am sure you have enjoyed our Zoo Negara tour and would like to see more interesting photos. I shall grant your wish now. […]
