Mini remote control car
Dec 3rd, 2007 by Neo
My Streamyx was down again yesterday. Looks like stewpid Streamyx always goes down at least once in a month… I know probably you will say this is lucky for me already as your Streamyx perhaps goes down at least twice in a week! Hahaha… as usual I called Tmnet up and wasted 20 minutes troubleshooting with them on the phone and in the end ended up with nothing but a report number. Need to wait 1 to 2 working days for them to check the problem.
Streamyx down, no blog hopping for the weekend. So, I went to Endah Parade in Sri Petaling. I haven’t been to this part of the town for a long time already… Last time this was always my place for evening walks when I was working in Technology Park Malaysia.

I was surprised to see a few new shops in front of Carrefour. This main tenant in Endah Parade has shifted slightly to make way for these other tenants. One of them which caught my attention is a small toys shop which displays all sorts of interesting toys. I made a visit and before long I find myself fall in love with a mini remote control car!

The above toy certainly looks damn cute, but it’s not the mini remote control car I was interested in. That toy is for kids, what I tried and bought is the following car which looks absolutely like the Toyota AE86 in Initial D! It’s a really exciting remote car to drive… the felling while driving it is damn nice and on top of the world!

Ok, I admit it’s not exactly a Toyota AE86, but if I paint it white it will look more similar. To do this, I will need to seek help from Wuching who has successfully painted a few Star Wars figurines. He’s a master in miniature painting now.
Anyway, this remote control car is not powered by any usual batteries, but its battery is rechargeable through the remote controller. That explains why the remote controller needs as many as 4 AA sized batteries. Before you put the car on the road, you need to charge it by plugging the cable from the remote controller into the exhaust of the car and wait until the charging indicator goes off.

Once it’s fully charged it’s good for some rough rides on the road! The beauty of this AA batteries charging from the remote controller is that there is no extra charger to carry around and you don’t need to find a power outlet to do the charging. You can bring this remote control car anywhere you want as it’s very small and light. No fats at all.

Take a look at the remote controller. I don’t have much complaint for a toy car which costs RM29.90, but perhaps the buttons on the remote controller would feel better if they were softer. I need to apply quite a bit of pressure on the buttons now… not a problem at all for short distance drive, but if I were to drive the car from KL to Penang, or if I were to drive it in the jam city center, then I would almost certainly get thumbs cramp! Haha…

Before I forgot. The car’s headlights light up when it forwards and the tail-lights light up when it reverses. The car looks really sporty… and that reminds me of Takumi in Initial D. Anyway, I will show you these neat features when I have someone to hold the camera for me while I sit behind the wheels, OK? ![]()

cbenc12,
My Streamyx is still down. According to Tmnet support, I will need to wait until Wed, fastest. Shall I call up billing to request for rebate?
keeyit,
Guys, only if we can’t afford to buy the real sport cars.
jellyfish,
Can’t boycott Streamyx at the time being. Simply because all the other broadband providers are not reliable enough.
ooo… have you tried maxis broadband? many of my friends are using it and happy with it, but at puchong area though.
