Palace of the Golden Horses
Dec 8th, 2007 by Neo
I believe most of you have heard of Palace of the Golden Horses, a 5-star hotel located by a splendid lake in Seri Kembangan. Or perhaps Serdang, but more precisely should be at the border of these two places. Anyway, that aside, I received an invitation call from them the other day to attend a hotel tour organized by them.

Immediately I knew what they were up to but being the sporty that I am, I agreed that I would go and not only that I would also bring my girls! So off we went and were brought on a quick tour of the hotel, introduced to the various facilities the hotel has to offer and etc.
In fact, this was not my first time at Palace of the Golden Horses. Couple of years ago, I was here for the Microsoft Tech Ed event, and on another occasion I attended an ex-colleague’s wedding dinner here.

If you were uninformed, this 5-star hotel is nothing like what the other 5-star hotels are in the town center… this hotel although is very spacious and hugh, but lacks the class, elegant and high-end feel. Very different with JW Marriott Hotel, or Westin Hotel for instance.
There’s really nothing fancy about this hotel apart from the many horse figurines and horse paintings and artworks. Oh yeah, one thing really surprised me. There is a reasonably sized medical center staffed with specialists within this hotel! Oh my goodness, can you believe that? A medical center in a hotel!

Electrocardiogram, whatever it does is just one of the many specialist clinics available here. I was totally amazed at the full range of high end medical equipments and facilities they have in the clinics. Some of the equipments cost more than RM1 million. I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of those because they are “private and confidential”. Huh?!
Of course all these come with a price! Haha… after the tour, we were ushered into a discussion room for some serious business.

There were already plenty of early birds there, innocent people like us! Haha… since I knew their plan, I told myself that I shall just listen to what they have to say. I am sporty, remember? The “tour guide” introduced his manager to us and soon after went on to share the hotel’s time sharing tours with us. He further told us all the benefits and advantages of the hotel’s time sharing packages. As if that wasn’t enough, he brought out a few pieces of paper and illustrated that to us! OMG, this dude was really a talker, he could basically talk nonstop, no wonder the hotel put him in this position! Anyway, I wasn’t paying attention… because all I know is it all sounded good and exciting but comes with a hugh price!

There are basically two packages. Diamond costs RM60 thousand and gold costs RM40 thousand. Something like that… but worry not, as they have a very good installment plan to make it very affordable for you! Brother, if I had money for this, I might as well settle my housing loan fast-fast!
Haha… wasted nearly two hours there! At the end bid farewell to them and they hesitantly handed us what we deserved for the two hours wasted!

Let’s see what are these goodies. One complimentary buffet lunch/dinner at Carousel Cafe, Palace of the Golden Horses. But only applicable with a minimum of two paying diners.
One RM50 spa discount voucher, one RM45 foot reflexology voucher, one 3 days/2 nights ticket for complimentary stay at Country Villas, Kajang; and one complimentary voucher for a cruise on the South Lake!
You say this hotel mean or not?

I’d received a few calls from them too but always decline. No mood to play with them.
Whoa, beautiful place! And they’re soooo good at making money.. hahahhaa…
I rather use the money to buy a car. By the way, do you know that your “Submit” button for your comment box is missing in Firefox?

You are right. They must be making lots of money from programs like this.
Jason,
My submit button is OK I believe. I am using Firefox and I can see it all right. Can you please try again? Thanks.
clement,
6-star rate, 3-star service you mean? Haha…
wuching,
In fact there’s a horse racing facility just a stone throw’s away. But belong to another party I guess.
KiliKulu,
You are absolutely right. The “submit comment” button looks cool, don’t ya agree?
Sean,
The hotel is big because they have plenty of land. But not really classy and high class to me. Lucky got some freebies for my wasted two hours. If I add in the traveling time, more than 3 hours was wasted.
whoa went to Golden Horses huh
Anyway, I thought Golden Horses is 6-star hotel?
Lcukily you still get something from the hotel…
I thought it supposed to be 6-stars hotel?
i went there one..it’s sooo big..it really looks like a palace..
