RM1 shark fin soup
Dec 23rd, 2007 by Neo
I told you I have some relatives coming for the weekend. Now, what should you do when you wanted to show that you are very generous, kind and all good? Of course, treat them to some of the most expensive delicacies and the first comes to mind is shark fin soup! There were 4 of them. Wow, that would certainly blow a hole in my pocket!!!
Not quite. Because I know where to get RM1 shark fin soup. You heard me right, RM1 only for a bowl of shark fin soup! You wanna try? Let’s go to Tak Fook Seafood Restaurant in Bandar Puteri, Puchong then!

No joke. We ordered 5 bowls, one for each of us; and it’s limited to one per person. Look at the promotional price on the wall.

RM1 shark fin soup. I would give two thumbs up for a bowl of shark fin soup of this price. What can you expect? Of course you can’t possibly compare this with that from a famous restaurant such as some Ah Yap restaurant where you pays RM50 for a bowl of shark fin soup. I haven’t heard of any shark fin soup which costs as little as this.
Only from this restaurant in Bandar Puteri, Puchong! Come here if you wanna try!

The restaurant promotes different type of delicacies on different day of the week. These delicacies are specially priced for the day… and to make it easier for you to choose, they are clearly listed on the wall.
Apart from the shark fin soup, we ordered another specialty from this restaurant which is crabs. We opted for Cheesy Crabs, which came with 6 pieces of baked bread.

This dish turned out to be finger licking good. The cheese broth was absolutely thick and rich. Dip the bread in them and you have the most appetizing bread on earth! I even licked clean my fingers… haha…
Those were the main dishes, and the accompanying ones were below. Let’s take a look.

Need your help here. I am sure you know what this is, but what do you call it in English? Cantonese people call this “fat but”. Hahaha, pronounce that the Cantonese way or it may sound like something funny.

Sizzling hot Japanese tofu. Tasted good, just like Japanese tofu.

With all the above, it wasn’t complete with a dish of vegetable. This time we tried the all time favorite cabbage fried with anchovies. Cabbage and anchovies are proven to be a perfect match, they taste marvelous fried together!
Not bad at all. The most memorable one of course is the cheap RM1 shark fin soup. Next time may just come here for a bowl by itself, not sure if they allow that or not. The bill came to just over RM80. Reasonable for 5 persons.

Wow, that is an incredible price. For the equivalent of HK$2!!!
Should start sending thousands of bowls of those here to HK so we can both be millionaires - within a month too.
Sigh, I wish food was that cheap here…. :/
Merry Christmas to you.
Do you know that fishermen cut off the shark fins from the sharks, while the shark is still alive? They are not really interested in catching the whole fish. Then, they let the shark sink to the bottom of the sea, since the animal cannot swim without a fin. The shark then drowns.
Sharks are very useful to the ecology of the seas. Please boycott those restaurants that sell sharkfin soups and let’s make the world a better place to live.
