Fish and Co. at One Utama
Jan 18th, 2008 by Neo
Do you believe me if I said I don’t like seafood cuisines? I think nobody will believe me! Earlier this month I savored the absolutely mouth watering seafood platter at Manhattan Fish Market. I can still remember the big deep fried fish fillet, calamari, oysters, and prawns… they were so yummy!
We were not even close to the end of the month and yet we had some seafood at another famous seafood restaurant. This time it was Fish and Co. at One Utama. It was such a long time since I last tried this restaurant because I think there are more MFM restaurants than Fish and Co.

“One bite and you’re hooked”. Very creative, isn’t it?

This establishment, at least the branch in One Utama, is not as big as MFM. Perhaps rental in One Utama is too expensive even a RM20-a-plate seafood restaurant cannot afford to expand. The place is so narrow that they have to place their stocks outside, notice the big boxes in the picture above?
Let’s see what we had. You might want to hold your mouth closed, though… otherwise you’ll be drooling all over yourself by the end of this post!

Kola tonic at RM5.50.

Field green salad at RM6.90.

Captain Hook at RM6.90. In fact this was kid’s meal with a very fancy name! Remember the “Captain Hook” in the Peter Pan fairy tale? Obviously, this kid’s meal was for my girl!

Fish and chips at RM9.90. This time no money to try the seafood platter like what we did in MFM. Fish and chips is always more economical but it tasted really nice too!

This was what they called the mussels, garlic and lemon dish. It was absolutely delicious at a price of RM12.90. But only 6 mussels… and, I didn’t get to eat all of them, had to share among us. We immediately ordered this when we saw the price was much lower compared to that at MFM.
Overall, I think Fish and Co. is more competitively priced compared to MFM and the standard of the food is at par. But there is less Fish and Co. establishments… they don’t have a branch in Puchong at least. That got me thinking… since I love seafood so much and I have so much free time, perhaps we can setup a new branch in Puchong? Who wants to invest some money in a new Fish and Co. branch in Puchong? You put in the money, I run it for you and I get to eat all the seafood as much as I want and as often as I want! ![]()

Food presentation wise not so appealing but the price is definitely good. But I think most of us will choose MFM anytime right?
wow.. looks so yummy.. I haven’t taken my lunch ler.. chamz chamz..
I used to frequent that shop but stopped after one unpleasant experience. Came in and placed my usual order. 3 other people came in after me, sat near my table. Each of them got their food first even tho I ordered like 5 minutes before they did. And some of them ordered the same thing I did sumore. Pissed, I summoned the manager for an explanation. He was reluctant to entertain me, tried not to look at me and took his time to come to my table even tho he wasn’t doing anything behind the counter. Banged the table, then only he came. His answer? Got staff problems. I gave him a shelling in front of the customers. He apologized. I got my food a few minutes later but my mood was ruined. Needless to say, that’s the last time they’ll get my business.
Fish&Co .. the Fish & Chips plates looks exactly the same with MFM… including the metal plate as well…
the stock really swt….
Che-Cheh,
Fish and Co. for its cheaper price, and MFM if cannot find Fish and Co.
ahlost,
Come here, you belanja me at MFM.
Chinz,
That’s perhaps only one isolated incident. Give them one more chance lar.
vickie,
Yupe, very similar.
Recently, I dine in this outlet.
To my disappointment, they roundup the bill and charged more on govt tax.
Total amt before tax is RM40.70. 10% service tax RM4.07 and govt tax is RM2.24 (Counted it as 5.5%). Brief counting on the charges should be RM47.01 but they round-up the bill became RM47.05. Total overcharge is 24.5 cents. I asked the waiter, he just smiled and acted nothing can be done about it.
Just to highlight to you guys to look carefully at the details of the bill before paying them.
Now it is not Jimat & Senang Kira…
Merchants are trying to Kira More..
