J.Co Donuts & Coffee
Feb 5th, 2008 by Neo
Not so long ago, when you think of donuts, you think of Dunkin Donuts. But now, if people asked you about donuts and you mentioned Dunkin Donuts people will laugh their ass off! Now, everybody talk about J.Co Donuts and Big Apple Donuts. Big Apple Donuts & Coffee is available in Niu Ze Xui, a new happening place in Ara Damansara. J.Co of course needless to mention is available in Pavilion KL, but the crazily long queues is always my excuse for not trying them yet until now.

However, the other day I was in Sunway Pyramid new wing, and was surprised to see a J.Co branch there! This must be their only other branch in KL… and the good news is the queues weren’t as long as those in Pavilion KL! So, I had no excuse this time and quickly joined the donuts lovers!

It took about 20 minutes to reach my turn. Obviously much faster if you compare this to the time you need to spend in the long queues in Pavilion KL branch.
Anyway, I asked the staff and was told that the donuts can be kept for a maximum of 30 hours and the minimum I can buy is one dozen. OK, so I asked for one dozen and one of each flavor since there were so many different flavors and I wasn’t sure which flavor is the best as it was my first time trying J.Co. Newbie in donuts.

I purposely asked to have the donuts fit into smaller boxes for easier handling. I certainly didn’t want my precious J.Co donuts crashed on my way home. Haha…

However, before I realize we had already eaten half of a dozen of the yummilicious donuts… way before we even got to my car! Now, let me tell you… it’s definitely worth the 20 minutes wait because the donuts were so soft and yet for some of the flavors the toppings were crispy. It was really satisfying galloping the donuts one by one… and each one of them brought surprises because of the different taste… something which you can’t do with Dunkin Donuts because they are bigger and slightly harder.

For one dozen, it cost me RM20. Not too expensive I guess, but definitely not for everyday… and although it’s delicious I guess I won’t queue up again for at least a couple of months.
Do you know where J.Co Donuts come from? Australia, U.S., or perhaps from New Zealand?… No, all wrong, believe it or not, they are originated from Indonesia! What a surprising trivial! Within a span of two and a half years, they have opened 35 outlets throughout Indonesia and 2 in Malaysia (Pavilion KL and Sunway Pyramid).
I wonder what are the people in Dunkin Donuts trying to do now on how not to lose their customers to J.Co. Donuts & Coffee. Oh yeah, I haven’t tried their coffee, not sure good or not. ![]()

I’ve been to Big Apple Donuts in The Curve. Who’s copying who? Looks like the same kind of design in donuts to me. I’ve tried all those that i like but will just lay off all this extremely sweet stuff because Ii tend to overdo my consumption of sweet stuff.
But I’ve to say they are very creative in making so many delicious flavors. I’ve eaten all the chocolate ones, double chocolate something, durian, kiwi, etc … But I never touch the traditional sugar covered ones. Just yucks.
Anyway after finishing nearly the entire strawberry fruitcake, I’m cutting down on sugar - maybe till next week
When will the first ‘J. CO’ open in Holland???? Its tooooo expensive for me now to get a dozen…
Or shall I open the first one here?
Will you visit me then?
superb! unfortunately i only had 2 of em. i want more! but i’m from jb, so it’s gonna have to wait. :’(
I’ve tried the j co donuts much earlier than you guys in K.L. My first bite of the donut-’cheese me up’ (since I like cheese so much) was in Bali in 2006, then in Bandung 2007. Every time I go to Bandung I must have the delicious donuts with coffee. Since the first bite, I’ve never forget and regret about it. Only until recently (a few months ago), I can always go and get some donuts whenever I feel like eating it/them. Even though the donuts taste the same, but the service we get here is not the same. Over there (Indonesia), the crew are friendlier and treat the customers with smiles… always!
You should try J Co’s Caviar Donuts. They are simply irresistible!
Guys out there, u should try J Co’s donuts… yummie… believe me, u won’t regret. To me, Big Apple and J Co are both the same. Just wonder if both outlet owned by same person. Marketing strategy perhaps.
Sir, i’m interested to be part of franchisee team. Appreciate if you could furnish relevant info to me to make my dream comes true =)
