FGS Dong Zen temple
Feb 18th, 2008 by Neo
Although the Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen temple in Jenjarom, Selangor is one of the places everyone must pay a visit every year during the Chinese New Year period, it was my first time there this year. In fact I planned to visit the place and take some pictures even before the Chinese New Year, but since I had to divert to Kuala Kangsar, I could only manage to venture into Jenjarom last week after I came back from KK.

Before this I had no idea where Jenjarom is. I had to ask for directions from a friend who had never failed visiting this place for the past few years. Jenjarom is located near to Banting, Klang. It’s not likely you will miss it as all you need to do is go straight… all the way towards Banting… and then follow the signboard for FGS (Fo Guang Shan).
Although the place was packed with visitors, but parking was still OK because they had a really big open space for parking. Luckily.

I bought a RM5 charity candle and casted it into the wishing well. The proceeds from this will be donated to the old folks home.

Lots of lanterns in striking red. I think something is not right with this picture… perhaps there’s too much red in the color tones. Perhaps adjusting the WB (white balance) in the camera might help but I wasn’t sure how… need to ask some sifu regarding this later.

I took heaps of photos but most of them turn out to be un-presentable. It’s really challenging to take good photos in low light and busy conditions.
Let’s check out more photos nevertheless. And if you have tricks to share in photography, do not shy to speak up.

Gold coated statues.

Ah, what’s this? The pig, as in the Chinese zodiac?

More animals from the Chinese zodiac. Can you figure out what these two animals are?

What is this?

Sleepy teacher and a girl.

Colorful lights projected onto a wall to produce the above interesting scene.
Overall, this is a nice place to hang out but preferably come in the early afternoon so as to beat the traffic jam but not too early as I am sure it will be a suffer to walk under the sun. This place opens until 24th of February, so you still have plenty of time.
Although coming in wasn’t much of a problem, but going back wasn’t so fortunate anymore. We were stuck in a slow bumper to bumper traffic and guess what? We had forgotten to take our dinner, only realized this after we came out… and had to stop somewhere for a quick bite, couldn’t stand to stuck in the jam for hours starving!

We ended up in Mobil station for cup noodles! Hahaha… not bad at all. Very delicious and full-filling. ![]()
