Interesting general election banners
Mar 5th, 2008 by Neo
Let’s get easy today and see which of these 2008 Malaysia General Election banners you like the most. I know some belong to the Barisan Nasional and some belong to the opposition parties… so you won’t like all of them, but you will definitely appreciate my effort bringing them here to share with you. Wahaha…
We started from Puchong on the LDP highway. First we saw this candidate Law Yeng Peng from Barisan Nasional. Vote for BN. Very ordinary plain vanilla banner.

His opponent in Puchong is no any ordinary candidate, because he is Gobind Singh Deo. Who is he? He’s the son of the chairman of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) whom people call “Tiger of Jelutong”, Karpal Singh. Gobind Singh gave a really interesting election speech last night in Puchong which I had the privilege to attend. Perhaps in a later post I shall share some of the photos with you.

Stay tuned for Gobind Singh’s speech!
Next, the banner of one of DAP’s strongest candidate, MP for Seputeh was also found in Puchong. She’s none other than Teresa Kok.

Some candidates for this general election were really creative. Look at this banner which makes use of a housing launch, it looks so different than the other traditional-look election banners.

Perhaps the housing developer sponsored the banners.

PAS is pretty creative also. They have a banner hanging right in the middle of this road in Puchong Utama.

It wasn’t very happening in Bandar Sunway, … not sure if it was due to a lazy weekend afternoon or otherwise. But Lee Hwa Beng’s banners were seen hanging in abundance. He is actually contesting for the Kelana Jaya seat.

Approaching Petaling Jaya, it was all Chew Mei Fun as her banners were seen everywhere, at every roundabouts, over every flyovers and at every strategic road junctions. Restoran Hoong Fatt, really fattat this time, free advertisement on my blog!
It was rather difficult to hold a heavy DSLR in one hand and steer the steering wheal with the other, and the ultra important task of shooting photos was passed to my girl. You can see her shooting skills shortly.

No doubt, Chew Mei Fun and Victor Gu Chian Peow always appear at the same place. But look carefully. This picture is out of focus because the camera was set to focus on the right bracket. My girl didn’t know this and I didn’t realize until I looked at the picture later.

The out of focus problem is clearer in this picture of Chew Mei Fun. The coconut tree in the background is clearer than the subject in the foreground. Haha…

Wow, this is a really interesting pillar! Gong Xi Fa Cai.

Pua Kiam Wee is certainly no stranger to you as this youngster has been making headlines in almost all major news these couple of weeks. He was the former Malaysian CEO of Cyber Village Sdn Bhd, a SESDAQ (SGX secondary board)-listed company. In early 2007, he sold all his interests in the company before joining the Democratic Action Party (DAP).

Huge Barisan Nasional banner located at one of the busiest junction in Bandar Utama. This will certainly catch a lot of attention and bring them a few more votes.

Fong Kui Lun, DAP’s strongman in Bukit Bintang. Fong is of course defending his Bukit Bintang Parliamentary seat and his loudest call is “Come back to Bukit Bintang and vote.”
I hope you had enjoyed tremendously all the varieties of banners above. Which one is your favorite? Ready to cast your vote on the 8th of March 2008?

I think that the opposition’s support is quite strong over there.
Maybe we’ll see an upset?

The posters can’t do much but certainly plays a role in making the election hotter and more happening! Very colorful too!
tulipspeaks,
I went to Gobind Singh’s ceramah in Puchong Utama the other day. I passed by the area and it was damn packed. But when I arrived later after dinner there wasn’t too many supporters on the floor anymore, and I had some great time listening to him and taking photos.
I will post some photos of his ceramah later.
