Gobind Singh Deo speech in Puchong
Mar 7th, 2008 by Neo
Obviously all the political party leaders are really busy now. Their hectic schedules include visiting voters in the market, people on the streets, etc and giving speeches (ceramah) at night. I haven’t been to many of those speeches as I managed to go to two of them only.
Gobind Singh Deo, the candidate for Puchong who is dubbed the “little lion of Puchong” and is contesting the Puchong parliamentary seat against the Barisan Nasional’s incumbent Law Yeng Peng of Gerakan, gave his electrifying speech in Puchong the other night. When I passed by the place in the early evening, the place had already packed with hordes of supporters… many of them even had to stand stand on the roadside. Many cars were parked at the sides of the main road too.

I decided to let them enjoy first and I went back after a couple of hours. To my delight, there were slightly less people and this was definitely good because I no only need space to work on my DSLR, I need to breath too.
A temporary stage was made from a lorry. Very portable and with this they can move to another place for another speech easily I guess.

Like many other General election speeches, there were other speakers. But pardon me, I didn’t manage to catch their names. Any brother knows who are these other speakers?

This guy actually spoke before Gobind Singh did, at least when I reached it was him who was giving his speech on the lorry. To my surprise, nobody came with cameras and certainly no one was taking pictures. That made me a little awkward and I decided not to use flash… This make taking photos under this noisy and busy conditions much harder. Nevertheless, my OS (optical stabilization) lens proved to be good on my shaky hands even at 150mm focal length.

This was the last speaker at the night. I must say that the way he presented his points was a little boring. Since he was talking in Mandarin and the fact that it was getting close to midnight, many spectators especially the non-Chinese decided to make a move. Any idea who is he?
Before I present you a video of Gobind Singh Deo’s speech (that video is damn big, at close to 50MB), let me show you a picture of last night’s speech given by DAP in SS2 Chow Yang Pasar Malam.

Look at that. There were thousands of people turned up at the speech given by notable names which include Tony Pua, Lau Weng San, Dr Cheah Wing Yin, and Teng Chang Khim. However, I didn’t see them because it was already pouring quite heavily when I reached there, luckily most of the spectators came prepared with umbrellas which I could take cover when they were using it. Haha…
I think it was about 10:30pm when it got really heavy and I decided to make a move… no chance to take more pictures and videos because I couldn’t get close enough to the stage.
Last but not least, a video of Gobind Singh Deo.
