Tony Pua and Gobind Singh at DAP ceramah in SS2
Mar 8th, 2008 by Neo
You guessed it, I was again at the general election ceramah organized by DAP in SS2, Petaling Jaya this evening. The previous night’s ceramah was not so successful, due to the down pour and my ignorance of not bring an umbrella. This evening, I went well prepared and stayed until the speech ended.
I estimated there were at least 10 thousands people packed in front of the MJ Cafe and Waisikkai. Luckily, parking wasn’t so much of a problem as there was a huge open air car park just beside the venue.

Let’s check out Tony Pua, the young multi-millionaire who was the founder and owner of SESDAQ-listed Cyber Village Sdn Bhd. Not sure how much fortune did he make by selling the company, but nonetheless his speech was simple and yet all the supporters on the floor cheered and applauded at whatever remarks he made.

After Tony Pua, Gobind Singh, who is contesting for the Parliamentary seat in Puchong turned up too. The crowd as expected cheered and welcomed him. Gobind Singh’s speech was clearly very powerful and immediately boosted the spirits of all who were present.
OK, I will let the following two videos do the talking.
Tony Pua. He reminded us that our proud University Malaya is now unofficially ranked 245 in the world, way out of the top 200 universities in the world. In 2004, everybody was so happy because UM was ranked at 89th, but in the next year it dropped to 169th. In 2006, University Malaya dropped further to 192 position.
Gobind Singh revealed a secret this evening. He stays next door with Tony Pua! Hahaha… what a heck of a coincidence, right?

My friend was there too. And I didn’t know both were neighbors! Hahaha, easier to compare notes I guess
i dunno bout the oppositions, but i thinks the same on all sides …
the reason why those who are there will clap and cheer at whatever they say is because they are paid to do so …
on the ruling coalition side …
its RM50 for a day, 9 hours, 3 meals, all u do is cheer …
its RM30 for a night 6 hours, 3 meals, and all u do is cheer …
Earl-ku, I was there last night.
I am not a member of any party but I take grave offence at your flippant comment on the opposition paying people to attend and cheer.
While it is common knowledge that BN is paying attendees as part of their gravy train, DAP, PKR and PAS have neither the resources nor the inclination to do so. Many of the party workers are dedicated volunteers who have put their own time, energy and money into the campaign.
On my part, I travelled from Singapore to KL to attend the ceramah last night, and this morning I flew back to Sabah to vote. I spent my own money and time to come back to vote for the opposition. And I’m not the only one. Others have returned from as far as the US to vote for change. No one is paying for us to do so.
You insult the opposition - and citizens like me - with your thoughtless comment. Instead of denigrating the efforts of this dedicated group, try making a positive contribution to the campaign for change.
earl.. is that true? damn.. i should do that… ha ha, and get my notebook there and waste time
Their hard work paid off. What a big win for the oppositions in Selangor.
Totally agreed that DAP deserves to win for the Chinese sake and once and for all, speak up for the minority. And yes, it’s not FAIR AT ALL FOR EARL to say that these people paid the voters to cheer as they don’t have the funds at stake as compared to BN. What do they have? Only courage and their own funds to help them. For goodness sake, if you can’t write something nice and encouraging, they just don’t write at all. There is so much at stake and it means a lot for DAP to win.
i have same feelin as “ghostline” many of my friend take leave went back hometown to Vote…we need “change”….alws hope for better future!
such a great result, eh? sweet victory ^.^
Congrat to u guys.. Its time for rock bottom in Parliment.. Chakde Gobind Singh and Tony Pua..
