Italiannies, One Utama
Apr 7th, 2008 by Neo
I have heard a lot of good things about Italiannies restaurants, how good are their food and how top notch are their services. I knew I have to give this restaurant which is located in One Utama’s new wing a try… and last week I did. Italiannies has a very unique looking storefront and from outside it may look a little small, but it is pretty large inside.
The good thing about this branch is they always have someone there giving free balloons to passers-by. Green and white colors balloons.

Italiannies is well known for their big portions. See how do they welcome you, “The best way to enjoy Italiannies, bring friends and a big appetite”.
Service was indeed good. They served us free bread (was it really free?) which was actually warm and fresh from the oven. We gladly munched on them because we were really hungry waiting for our order to be served.

This was a nice starter, dip them in the olive oil and Balsamic vinegar.
Anyway, it took a little while for our food to be served although we didn’t order a lot, but it was Smoked Salmon Pizza, perhaps they needed to catch some Salmon fish first and that’s what took them some time. While waiting, obviously I played with my new DSLR and shoot whatever caught my lens.

I love my 50mm f/1.8 lens. It can produce really nice blurry background with its huge aperture, even in a dim environment. The subject you focus on can still be pretty sharp and crisp.

There’s our food for the day. Smoked Salmon Pizza. How did it taste, well, I have heard a lot of good words on Italiannies, but I have to say this pizza was horrible. It was quite tasteless although I believe I had poured all the spices I could find on the table, including lots of dried chillies. There was very little toppings apart from the salmon slices and some big onion rings. Maybe this pizza just wasn’t made for me…
Oh before I forgot, I ordered bottomless iced lemon tea, and as the name implies, it’s bottomless! You could refill as many times as you want!

For the time being, I think I still prefer Pizza Hut’s seafood pizza, to which I know most of you may disagree. What’s your favorite pizza? And if I visit Italiannies again, what do you recommend I should try? ![]()

Anston,
The pizza which I tried sucks big time. But perhaps next time can try their pasta as it’s recommended by Che-Cheh. The price is not cheap but you can order their bottomless drinks, can drink until you are full.

Lots of nice restaurants in kl. I am going to try them one by one when I go over soon!
yes. the 50mm f/1.8 lens is my favorite too. I just can’t stop myself from using it all the time. it’s great for portrait and subjects. You are able to portray your subject here with great clarity and focus.
Ken
Wuching,
You were too sexcited!
Jam,
Don’t wait, come now! AirAsia is having promotions now, can also check out their TuneHotels.
Ken,
Yes, 50mm f/1.8 is great, but too bad we have to move forward or step backward when framing.
wah.. anyway, will be kl for a day next month. business purpose
Okay, let me tell you what is nice.
Starter - Fried Calamari/Spinach and Artichoke Formaggio.
Main Course -
Order Seafood Ciopinno sub Alfredo Sauce. (This is really good)
Order Classic Carbonara.
Order Seafood Pizza. The seafood pizza in Italiannies One Utama is the best, dont go to The Curve’s Italiannies or anywhere else, the best chefs of Italiannies are from OU.
Dessert - Creme Brulee/Cheesecake/Bread Pudding.
Try em. I used work there but i stopped because of college. & dont forget to ASK FOR MORE COMPLIMENTARY BREAD! It’s called Tuscan (plain) and Foccacia (with herbs).
Forget the desserts i recommended, i forgot about Tiramisu, it’s the best Tiramisu after Alexis’s. But im allergic to cinnamon
Elaine Tan,
Okay, no problem. I will try Italiannies’ Tiramisu then.
